Manage the day to day operations of a growing team of Clinical Documentation Specialists responsible for reviewing medical records to facilitate the accurate representation of the severity of illness and risk of mortality.  This involves extensive record review, interaction with physicians, HIM professionals, and nursing staff.  

Monitor daily census to ensure appropriate and effective coverage

Provide clinical support to team members and assist staff with query escalation and appropriate DRG assignment/query opportunities

Analyze individual staff performance periodically, evaluate trends and provide feedback

Run daily/monthly reports to track goals and trend statistics

Responsible for monthly reconciliation reports

Represent team in administrative management meetings to present statistical data and provide support to hospital-wide initiatives

Work collaboratively with HIM management to facilitate resolution of documentation and coding discrepancies

Develop and implement plans for education of physician, nursing and ancillary staff on documentation improvement.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Foreign Medical Doctor, Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioner, or Registered Nurse with BSN/MSN with strong high acuity background
  • Minimum of 2 years of managerial / supervisory experiencerequired
  • Minimum of 5 years in clinical practice
  • Critical care or strong medical / surgical background
  • Certified CCDS/CDIP and/or CCS with 3M360-DRG Assurance experiencepreferred
