About the Role:

Reporting directly to the Senior Manager of Data, & Analytics, Central Finance Project, this role is responsible for implementing standard design and driving the mapping and attribute set up for Financial Objects (Cost Center, Profit Center, Account, Company Codes, Trading partners and HFM and SLT mapping etc.). The Manager, Central Finance - Data Design, will coordinate with business partners to work through defining attributes | setting up mapping to ensure that all data meets the standard Central Finance design. This role will be responsible for leading mapping | validation exercises, liaising with the appropriate business subject matter experts, articulating the impact of potential changes, and driving data standards for NA/LAG implementation.

At Stanley Black & Decker (SBD), we are mainly an SAP and Oracle/Hyperion shop, but there will be plenty of locations that have alternative systems, especially on the ERP side. The second biggest system from an ERP perspective is JD Edwards. This role is an integral part of the Central Finance project and will serve as a liaison between Business Unit Controllers (BUC's), Information Technology (IT), Global Shared Services (GSS), Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), Chief Accounting Office (CAO) and the Competency Center (CC).

Job Responsibilities:

The four main pillars of responsibility for this new role:


  • Promotes strengthening of system efficiencies by implementing standardized data in the new Central Finance Platform
  • Ability to communicate and interact across all levels of the organization including Controllership, Business, Master Data Management, and IT to achieve best in class standards
  • Works with business stakeholders to document and define standard business data needs in Central Finance

2) Business Process

  • Leads documentation of the existing and future state business process
  • Leads all change management initiatives related to changes in Financial Objects required for end users to prepare for Central Finance go-live

3) Controls & Compliance

  • Ensures all required approvals for the new CFIN business data standards are obtained and documentation is consistently stored to support project approval toll gates
  • Ensures data standard quality through consistent data validation and monitoring procedures (testing in Central Finance "prototype environment")
  • Provides support to business partners on Central Finance related to data decisions and evaluates impact to reporting and analysis standards

4) People

  • Ensures communication and collaboration among the following teams: Core Central Finance, Master Data Management, IT, Accenture, and Business
  • Drives accomplishment of all required deliverables on time with 100% focus on quality and timeliness

  • Competencies/Education Requirements:BS degree in Business, Finance, or Systems
  • 5+ Years of Finance, Accounting and/or Systems experience including 3 years of job-related experience with financial objects master data
  • SAP experience required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong analytical skills including data mining, analysis, trending, and writing accompanying commentary
  • Strong written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate constantly | effectively throughout highly-matrixed organization
  • Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes
  • Prepared to travel up to 25 % of time
