The Project Manager is responsible for successful execution of capital projects (typically >$5M).  The incumbent will be responsible for coordinating various cost, schedule, construction, safety and scope activities on these projects in a timely and cost effective manner. Scope includes new and existing equipment, process, utilities, buildings and any systems or structure as required by the company. The Project Manager will ensure that all systems will be designed, installed and operated according to local codes, regulations and by-laws including Health, Safety and Environment requirements.


1.  Provide project management skills to develop and execute Capital Projects typically >$2M.  This position will work under the supervision of a department leader, but have full accountability for project success.  Incumbent is expected to have a working knowledge of NEXTs and Catalyst systems, experience supervising engineering and construction activities, tracking field progress, coordinating C&Q activities, coordinating with maintenance for calibration and turnover activities, coordinating with CAD for documentation turnover, and any other of the various project activities needed during execution. (60%)

2. As an experienced project manager, it is expected that incumbent has a working knowledge of project management and project controls Best Practices (BPs).  The project manager will be responsible for OPX2 time tracking of project staff (both internal and external) and cost control using SAP.  Incumbent has experience with the Project Request process for projects, and the AED process on larger projects >$325k.  Implement and assist in commissioning & qualification (C&Q) procedures on projects. (15%)

3. Communicate with customers and key stakeholders.  Prepare monthly updates to support the project leader.  Prepare and present presentations as appropriate. (15%)

4. Implement projects in a safe and GMP compliant manner.  Meet all HSE training requirements, and implement HSE procedures (Safe Plan of Actions, Permits, etc.) on all projects. (10%)

This is a site-based position.  The incumbent shall be proficient in the operation of Microsoft Office Suite (Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and needs a good understanding of process, facilities and utilities employed for pharmaceutical and biological production. This position requires strong organizational and time management skills and good interpersonal and communication skills. Major problems to be solved in this position include cost, schedule and scope issues that get raised throughout the progress of multiple projects.  The project manager shall be capable of physically handling frequent exposure to field construction and commissioning activities.

Education and Experience

Minimum B.S., Engineering, with experience relevant to biologicals and/or vaccines manufacturing, or with appropriate supplemental industrialexperience.  Registration as a Professional Engineering is preferred.

Minimum 8years’ experience in engineering, preferably in a technical role supporting or leading a capital project.  Beneficial to have working knowledge and experience with GMP requirements, engineering design, construction, project controls (including cost control and scheduling), commissioning and qualification activities.

Hours of Work:

Monday to Friday 8:00a.m.-4:00p.m.
