As the Manager, Information Services – Big Data and Automated Intelligence, you're in great company, working alongside some of the brightest and most innovative technology and business teams across TELUS. You will lead a team of data engineers, software engineers and technology experts who continuously expand and modernize our big data supply chain while enabling capabilities that push actionable insights to our front lines through automated intelligence. You will collaborate with internal stakeholders and partners to solve complex problems while contributing towards the strategy and evolution of our team to meet changing business demands. You'll propose, guide and lead the way we can unlock business value by leveraging data and technology as critical assets. Your legacy will include playing a lead role in the development and implementation of automated intelligence capabilities at TELUS to deliver better business outcomes and experiences for our customers.


Here's how

  • Leading a team of Data and Software engineers while managing and prioritizing multiple, concurrent projects in an "agile" environment from conception to delivery
  • Supporting project teams in overcoming challenges by helping to remove roadblocks and developing options and solutions
  • In partnership with our Centre of Excellence develop technology roadmaps and bring those to fruition especially towards cloud enabled and "Big data" technology stack with a DataOps mindset
  • Drive continued performance and process improvements within the organisation
  • Quantifying, capturing and articulating the application of technology solutions and make recommendations to business leaders and executives in order to influence the realization of value at TELUS
  • Collaborating across business unit and industry subject matter experts to develop data driven solutions and roadmaps to solves business problems and challenges
  • Build and foster strong relationships with our business partners and across the Technology Strategy and Business Transformation organizations
  • Inspire, lead, coach and develop technical team members both onshore and offshore and foster high engagement and high performance
  • Develop and manage resource plans, including forecasting people resources and capital
  • Manage budget related activities to meet financial goals



Qualifications

  • Regarded as collaborative, creative, entrepreneurial and willing to experiment
  • Noted for your understanding of data warehouse/Hadoop architectures, ETL processes, Cloud Platforms and Micro Services and the software development lifecycle (Waterfall and Agile/Scrum)
  • Confident in engaging with and making presentation to executive leaders
  • Valued as a strong people leader with 3 or more years of experience leading technical team members in D&S or Operations in a large, enterprise environment
  • Respected as a collaborative partner and trusted advisor who builds strong relationships across the organization that add value
  • Recognized for successfully managing multiple programs/projects, concurrent projects and delivering on agreed upon commitments as promised including managing risks and change
  • Known as an excellent communicator, negotiator and influencer and able to convey complex ideas and concepts to a variety of audiences, including senior leaders, in a clear, simple, easy to understand manner
  • Sought out as a strategic thinker with strong financial and business acumen
  • Respected as having advanced analytical, technology assessment, decision-making, and business case development skills
  • Acknowledged as a self-starter with high initiative and results-focus orientation who takes ownership of complex issues to resolution
  • Noted for your working knowledge of:
