Job Summary:

This position will strategically manage employee benefits, wellness and communication for Lydall.

This position will also have responsibilities in managing various HR special projects that will enable the organization to meet their business objectives and improve employee engagement.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops, implements, administers, and communicates benefit plans, policies, programs, and procedures
  • Recommends benefits programs to management by studying employee requirements and trends and developments in benefits offered by other organizations.
  • Identifies benefit options by studying programs; obtaining advice from consultants.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; obtaining qualified opinions; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
  • Resolves employee questions and problems by interpreting benefit policies and procedures.
  • Expedites delivery of benefits by establishing and maintaining working relationships with benefit vendors.
  • Completes operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.
  • Maintains benefits staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
  • Achieves financial objectives by preparing the benefits and department operational budgets; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
  • Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Manages the Wellness program and the committee with the goal of increasing employee engagement and health awareness
  • Develop and manage HR & benefit communications and all communication vehicles (printed communications, HR portal, external site etc.)
  • Provides guidance, advice, analysis, and training of HR professionals with respect to applicable benefit plans
  • Manages our leave of absence program (STD/LTD/FMLA)
  • Manage open enrollment platform and meetings for annual enrollment
  • Provide oversight of the 401K program
  • Manage special projects as assigned
  • Streamline billing, audit & reporting processes for all benefits
  • Represent Lydall on the different benefit committees
  • Provide oversight of all benefit audit and regulatory filings
  • Monitor trends in the marketplace, prevalent practices, emerging technologies, and new product solutions to help shape recommendations for new programs or program improvements
  • Act as an escalation point for benefit inquiries and complaints to ensure quick, equitable, courteous resolution.

  • Must adhere to all company and location policies and safety rules
  • Must be able to work extended hours when required

Education, Experience, Skills and Abilities Required for Consideration as a Candidate:

(If a degree is required it must be from an accredited institution)

  • Five to eight plus years’ experience in designing, managing and implementing benefits and wellness programs for hourly, salaried, executive and international employees preferred.
  • Three to Five years’ experience managing large projects and programs
  • Two to Three years’ experience leading or managing employees
  • Two to Three years’ experience in managing employee communications
  • Proven project management skills, tools, methodologies and experience
  • Ability to coach, train as necessary, and serve as subject matter expert to HR team and its internal business partners and clients
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills, with an ability to comfortably communicate with all levels of employees
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work at a strategic level and concurrently executing multiple projects
  • Good understanding of the latest benefit program regulations and experience in implementing those
  • Demonstrated experience to design, manage and implement Benefit projects and programs
  • Proven experience in negotiation and vendor relationship management
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office products
  • A bachelor’s degree in related field
  • May need to travel up to 10% of the time to various locations including international travel

Additional Education, Experience, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS)
  • SOX compliance experience
  • Experience managing other department members
  • A master’s degree in related field.
