Manager/Associate Director – Parasitologist Research & Development

Job Scope:

The Zoetis Veterinary Medicine Research and Development parasitology team is seeking an experienced and motivated clinical parasitologist, ideally with knowledge of parasitology research and development within the Animal Health industry.  The successful applicant will support the design and execution of research and/or development studies and projects in parasitology.  Dependent upon experience, the successful applicant may be asked to lead parasitology projects and contribute to the Zoetis parasitology product portfolio strategy.


  • Support the parasitology research and development team to meet its objectives
  • Provide expertise within and across functions in the field of parasitology
  • Participate in research and development project teams to license veterinary antiparasitics
  • Plan, design and lead clinical studies and/or clinical programs for licensure of antiparasitic products. This may include consideration of appropriate study design, protocol generation, study monitoring, data collection (including use of electronic data capture [EDC] systems), data analysis and interpretation, as well as authoring and review of final reports.
  • Ensure the collection and maintenance of accurate documentation to meet regulatory requirements for product licensure and to contribute to generation of dossiers for submission to regulatory agencies to support product licensure
  • Maintain and develop a professional network of external experts, contract resource organizations and study collaborators, for the purpose of designing and executing antiparasitic studies successfully
  • Support development, progression and implementation of the Zoetis parasitology product portfolio strategy
  • Contribute to the identification of potential new research, development  and market support opportunities in the field of parasitology
  • Support regional efforts to promote the licensing of products, and/or technologies
  • Publish and present results to facilitate the objectives of Zoetis
  • Up to 10% travel may be required


Minimum Skills, Education, Experience and Attributes:

  • Veterinary degree (DVM) plus advanced training, PhD or 5+ years experience in veterinary parasitology
  • Experience of design and execution of parasitology clinical research and/or development studies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.  Fluency in English is mandatory.
  • Able to work both as a member of a team and also independently, in a self-directed manner
  • Able to work efficiently under pressure to meet multiple project timelines
  • Skilled technical writer
  • Good computer and technology skills

Desirable Skills, Education, Experience and Attributes:

  • Previous experience in the Animal Health pharmaceutical/vaccine industry or of parasitology research in an academic or commercial environment
  • Experience as a project leader, particularly for veterinary antiparasitic projects
  • Understanding of the regulatory requirements for successful licensure of veterinary products
  • Understanding and/or experience of electronic data capture (EDC) tools
  • Ability to understand, influence and motivate colleagues in a matrix organization
