Position Summary
Responsible to manage the related corporate accounting functions ensuring all related entries and financial reports are completed in a timely and accurate manner and in accordance with GAAP and applicable company policies. Prepare financial reports and ensure reports accurately reflect business performance and provide reliable information necessary to control operations.

Minimum Requirements
    Degrees
    Bachelor's Degree (Required) Accounting
        or Finance or equivalent combination of education and/or experience. MBA preferred.
    Job Experience
    Eight (8) years Accounting and/or Finance experience.
     Prior experience with general/corporate accounting in wholesale or retail strongly preferred
     Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Managerial Accountant (CMA) designation preferred.
    Supervisory Experience
    TWO (2) YEARS

Responsibilities and Essential Duties
Manage the related assigned accounting functions and consolidated period/quarter close process; work with various departments ensuring related entries and financial reports are completed in a timely and accurate manner and in accordance with GAAP and applicable company policies. Ensure quality performance in accounting processes along with proper customer response and satisfaction.
Oversee consolidated accounting functions which include journal entry activity, account reconciliations, banking transactions and reconciliations (i.e., payroll, accounts payable and major distribution center banks), account analysis and audits. Review and analyze results to ensure overall accuracy.
Manage the preparation and dissemination of reports and analysis provided to business units for decision-making; ensure reports accurately reflect business performance and provide reliable information necessary to control operations. Consult and educate associates and management on financial statements and reports to assist with solving business issues.
Prepare reports and assist with quarterly and annual SEC filings. Participate in Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) external audits and internal control testing, implementation of internal audit recommendations for the Corporate Accounting group, and maintain department SOX documentation. Support a strong internal control environment by working with auditors on a regular basis related to audits or quarter end sign-offs.
Maintain accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely accounting and financial reporting; implement new and/or updated policies and procedures as necessary. Responsible to train associates in processes, use of tools, reports, etc. to ensure accounting processes are completed appropriately.
Responsible for department management including staffing, training, performance management and career development of associates, and developing and monitoring department goals. Develop and monitor department budget as required.
Maintain current knowledge of legal regulations, industry trends and best Accounting practices; make recommendations to improve current programs and processes and to ensure company compliance.
Participate in and/or oversee the improvement, enhancement, and establishment of automated accounting systems and procedures as needed. Work with Operations and IT to enhance and improve the business/ financial systems to provide quality information in a cost effective manner.

Knowledge, Skills Abilities
Strong understanding of accounting processes and procedures and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, results-oriented and ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments. Strong leadership, analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage staff, lead by influence, and negotiate and work with associates at all levels of the organization in a fast paced, changing work environment. Working knowledge of MS Office (Word and Excel).
