Job Purpose:

Responsible for managing a team in the performance of accounting services. Divide complex issues into simpler components, in order to achieve clarity and solutions. Select best options available to solve specific problems and present the information at meetings with supervisors. Apply relevant resources/effective delegation to implement solutions. Advocate for the growth of others and devote appropriate time for training, coaching, and development opportunities to staff. Multitask on projects and prioritize work tasks.

The manager role will be responsible for promoting a collaborative work environment that fosters development and growth of each team member. The role includes the facilitation of the reporting process, including the preparation of quarterly financial statements, associated variance analysis and management reports. This role will also manage the team responsible for handling construction work in progress, inventory and fixed asset maintenance. In addition, this role will provide insight into to OUC's development of accounting policy and implementation of newly issued accounting and tax guidance.

Primary Functions:

  • Coach, train and conduct performance evaluations;

  • Mentor and develop team;

  • Work with internal customers and consultants on implementation of new initiatives;

  • Prepare and review annual audit support and financial statements;

  • Develop whitepaper analyses for newly issued regulatory and tax guidance;

  • Facilitate monthly financial statement preparation and senior management report;

  • Review tax and regulatory reporting as required by area;

  • Work with staff on complex issues;

  • Prepare and deliver internal/external communications;

  • Lead strategic planning and area process improvement initiatives;

  • Facilitate all audits as required by area;

  • Coordinate preparation of reports;

    Provide direction, delegate, and provide leadership to accounting staff;

    Resolve conflicts and offer feedback;

    Solve problems using critical and analytical thinking;

    Prepare training materials and provide instruction to department;

  • Perform other duties as assigned;


· Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field of study from an accredited college or university


Hold a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation and have a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field of study from an accredited college or university

· Minimum of seven (7) years working experience in accounting or finance role; to include three (3) years of supervisory experience at a mid-sized company

· Working knowledge of, but not limited to, the following:


o Tax Regulations

o Financial policy and procedure

o OUC policy and procedure

o Software applications related to area

o Related industry, organizational and departmental policies, practices, and procedures; legal guidelines, ordinances, and laws.

· Demonstrate a positive attitude and remain engaged;

· Be flexible in changing work environments and capable of multi-tasking;

· Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing;

· Have a keen attention to detail;

· Understand and apply governmental accounting practices in maintenance of financial records;

· Ability to make arithmetic computations using whole numbers, fractions and decimals, rates, ratios, and percentages;

· Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and standard office equipment (telephone, computer, copier, etc.).
