As a member of the Finance Business Partner group for Information Technology (FBP iT), the Manager, Financial Planning & Governance will provide support to the Director in theexecution of the business planning, operating budgeting, forecasting and capital expenditures budgeting processes across all of iT with a focus on the iT cost allocation model and processes.

As part of the FBP iT, the Managerwill coordinate with and support multiple stakeholders including continent and corporate leadership and discipline teams and external stakeholders.She/he will actively support efforts to maintain iT Service Catalog and document iT cost accumulations and allocation processes.She/he must be adept at tapping diverse sources of information, identifying profitable opportunities, anticipating challenges, devising and executing breakthrough strategies/approaches to deliver against the current and future business priorities, and engaging and partnering with key business leaders and owners, thereby strengthening Marriott's competitive advantage through excellence in financial management.

The Manager may also provide leadership to junior staff on the team.


Provide support to the Sr Manager, Financial Planning & Governance which will include:

  • Update and maintain the iT Cost Allocation Model including new reports, categorizations and adding actuals, forecasts & budget
  • Assist in the development and distribution of application and bill of iT financial statements to iT leaders and consumers of iT services
  • Provide thought leadership on the architecture of the iT Cost Allocation model to collect data, process allocations and produce consolidated reporting for management consumption. This includes processes, templates and data management.
  • Continuously monitor accuracy and data flows in the iT Cost Allocation model and partner with iT FBPs for updates to ensure the reconciliation to Marriott International's general ledger and Apptio reporting.
  • Executing strategy during annual operating budget, business plan and year-end true-up processes. Lead the development of the annual operating budget timeline, preparation of budget schedules for iT budget reviews and approval
  • Lead the development and continuous improvement and testing of budgeting tools and systems
  • Develops processes and delivers appropriate training for iT; conducts budget reviews and partners with iT leaders to ensure they are knowledgeable about their budgets and impacts/potential impacts due to changes.
  • Conduct and provide various data analysis to support the forecasting process, including specific Owner requests (i.e.mid-month forecast)
  • Supports the ongoing monitoring, measuring and forecasting of iT's' financial performance and the development and implementation of actionable recommendations to address identified business challenges and opportunities.
  • Assist with the overall facilitation of Marriott's capital expenditure budget and forecasting processes; provides assistance to iT leads in the ongoing management of Capex funding and coordination of budget reviews and approval process.
  • Develops/utilizes consistent budgeting and forecasting tools across iT, variance analyses, etc. to help identify business challenges and opportunities, help drive business decisions, and ensuring the right financial approaches and resources are utilized.
  • Build and develop Key Business Indicators (KBIs), tools and processes for monitoring the current and projecting the future financial health of the business, identifying potential risks and opportunities, and identifying options for action. Establish processes to proactively identify financial risks to the business and creatively resolve risk.
  • Build, direct and/or support financial processes and analytic capabilities to ensure sound business and financial decisions are made and financial objectives are met or exceeded. Identify opportunities for improved profitability.
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with iT leaders, Global Finance leaders and other key stakeholders to provide guidance and/or consultation, as appropriate, to effectively influence business decisions and financial outcomes and optimize overall work effectiveness.
  • Participates on intra and cross-discipline project teams providing a strategic finance perspective to the work and helping the project team achieve their objectives.
  • Conduct and provide various data analysis to support the forecasting process, including specific Owner requests (i.e.mid-month forecast)


  • Minimum 5 years' financial management experience in a global organization with increasing management responsibility including complex data analysis and financial modeling
  • Exhibits strong functional leadership and finance knowledge; able to leverage this strength to influence business team strategies and decisions.
  • Able to lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously; ability to translate business needs into operational financial management priorities.
  • Able to consistently make decisions in a timely manner sometimes with incomplete information and under tight deadlines and pressure. Comfortable challenging organizational norms and accepted thinking to improve effectiveness.

  • In depth knowledge and understanding of MI business model and management and franchisee contracts.

Education and Professional Certification

  • Baccalaureate degree in Finance, Accounting or related discipline required
