Fully responsible for the management and oversight of the Risk Management Office and supervision of its staff. Manage all phases of the Institute’s property and casualty insurance program. This includes renewals (data collection, completing applications, meeting with insurers, negotiating and resolving issues, and making appropriate placement recommendations to executive management), policy review to ensure consistency with coverage bound, and ongoing management for mid-term coverage enhancements as needed. Manage all insurance related financial transactions, including policy premium audits, and internal insurance accounting functions. Review insurance and risk provisions of various contracts and other documents to assure appropriate transfer of risk. Negotiate contractual insurance requirements with clients, subcontractors and vendors as needed. Serve as an advisor on various corporate committees related to Compliance, Environmental and Safety. Advise executive management, technical and business staff on risk management and insurance matters. Work closely with Institute staff, insurance services providers and underwriters to evaluate risk, explore options, and adequately address coverage issues and unique insurance needs to optimize risk management. Responsible for property and liabilityclaims management. Provides appropriate notice of all property and liability insurance claims to insurance service providers. Supervises claims management for auto liability and processes property insurance claims directly with insurer. Coordinates liabilityclaims activities with Legal Department and insurance providers. Assists in facilitating workers compensationclaims resolution with Human Resources and third party insurance administrator. Manage service provider relationships including fee negotiations, service agreements and work quality. Performs other duties as assigned.
Requires a Bachelors degree in a Business related major such as Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Risk Management or Accounting with at least a 3.0 GPA. Requires 20years of work experience in risk management and insurance, at least 10 of which must have been as a Risk Manager (or equivalent), Property/Casualty Insurance Underwriter or Broker. Training, Licenses or Certificates: Insurance/Risk Management Professional Certification such as ARM (Associate in Risk Management), CPCU (Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter), CRM (Certified Risk Managers), or MLIS (Management Liability Insurance Specialist) is required. Experiencerequired: in the design, development and management of property and casualty insurance programs to maintain broadest possible coverage at the most economical cost, broad understanding of risk management practices and techniques, detailed knowledge of insurance coverage and the ability to analyze policies to determine coverage. Must be able to understand risks from a broad variety of sources or segments of business and to assist and influence operational areas throughout the Institute to integrate risk management into decision-making; must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills with aptitude to provide creative solutions to real-time challenges with consistent follow through; must have the capability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with senior management, employees at all levels, risk management vendors, insurance service providers and insurers; must possess excellent written and oral communication skills, including ability to explain technical insurance issues, and discuss general risk management concepts; must be articulate and a collaborative communicator; must possess excellent written and oral communication skills, including ability to explain technical insurance issues, and discuss general risk management concepts.
