Position Description

The Finance Department/Utilities Accounting Division is seeking an MA III to provide comprehensive analysis, management support, and maintain City's Fiscal Sustainability strategic goal by performing quantitative and qualitative analysis, project management support and lead responsibilities for Utilities Accounting staff.

This position will conduct research and analysis; oversee and review the work of others; provide consultation; and identify and develop recommendations for process improvement. The position uses accounting knowledge, understands and interprets complex accounting principles and pronouncements to provide advice and consultation to executive-level City management, co-workers, and internal departments in support of the financial reporting process. This position will also prepare and recommend City-wide policies related to accounting treatment and interpretations, and provide back-up coverage for select Division Manager tasks.

Many of the tasks this position will be responsible for are project based. Project responsibilities include but are not limited to; defining project goals, tasks, required resources, and schedule. This position may also be responsible for the completion of deliverables, providing support to the team, monitoring and reporting on project progress, presenting project reports to stakeholders, implementing and managing change when needed and providing completion reports to evaluate and assess the results of the project.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, with five years' progressive experience in a finance office performing similar functions; highly proficient in Microsoft Office products and an understanding of financial accounting and reporting.
