The Managed Firewall Services team supports the state's mission to enable businesses and constituents to securely access government services anytime, anywhere. The team helps protect the integrity, availability, and confidentiality of information held by the state of Washington and protects it from unauthorized use or modification, accidental or intentional damage or

destruction from access from the Internet.

 

What would you be doing in this role? 

The Managed Firewall Services Owner makes real-time decisions in a dynamic threatlandscape to effectively protect government information data and resources from active and persistent threats from the Internet and internal/external sources that could expose personally identifiable information or compromise state systems. 

  • Accountable for customer satisfaction and has the responsibility for attracting and retaining customers through the delivery of value-added services at cost effective rates/allocation while operating as a full cost recovery business.
  • Manage all financial aspects of a revenue and expense center(s) - budgeting and budget performance, including marketing, sales/billing/inventory, customer satisfaction and processes as related to firewall services.
  • Conducts cost and functional analysis of existing services. Responsible to analyze the impact of new technologies and services on existing staffing levels and rates/allocations. 
  • Strives to build consensus utilizing conflict resolution in order to meet the needs of internal and external customers with conflicting needs.
  • Predicts and plans for future events, and make long and short term decisions for the purpose of meeting firewall services for the Agency. 
  • Provides leadership and strategic planning of the work performed by the firewall group. Directs a staff of highly skilled technical professionals that provide technical analysis, advice and design recommendations of networktechnologies. 

Here's What We Are Looking For:

  • Five (5) years or more of progressively responsible professional experience managing, mentoring and coaching staff. This includes the passion and ability to develop staff by providing clear instruction, feedback, encouragement and accountability.
  • Three (3) years of experience in a service provider or large enterprise information security environment.
  • Five (5) years or more of progressively responsible professional experience managing, mentoring and coaching staff. This includes the passion and ability to develop staff by providing clear instruction, feedback, encouragement and accountability.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience as a supervisor or manager with demonstrated experience managing at a high level of accountability with an annual budget with revenue and expense of at least $1M.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical issues with technical staff, customer security professionals and non-technical audiences
$90K - $110K
