Job Description

Develop and oversee all activities involved in managing and leading all maintenance functions in the Belgravia Plant associated with Facilities, Utilities, Weigh and Price and Waste Water. Primary areas of coverage include Refrigeration Systems, OSHA’s Process Safety Management (PSM ) & EPA’s Risk Management Plan regulatory requirements, Electrical Distribution, Pallet jacks, Forklifts, Boiler and Hot Water systems, Compressed air systems, CO2 systems, HVAC systems, building maintenance, Waste Water system, Weigh and Price and other associated equipment and systems. Plan and direct preventative maintenance and maintenance repair/overhaul actions in these areas along with associated project activities. Keep abreast of and advise department manager of regulatory requirements and take action to ensure the facility meets current requirements in respective areas. Maintain certification in PSM / RMP and RETA and facilitate required certification of subordinates.

Indicate the major day-to-day problems you encounter, and in the solution of these problems, what actions you may take independently and what require approval by higher authority.

Involves working independently within the following areas: work assignments, work schedules, repair priorities, and expense expenditures up to$500.00.

Areas requiring approval include: promotions, personnel actions, purchase requests greater than $500.00 and requests to stock spare parts.

1) Direct and supervise shift maintenance for all refrigeration, electrical, boiler and waste water treatment facilities at Belgravia Plant. Specifically:

a) Prepare work schedules and mechanic duty assignments as required to support the total maintenance program and the requirements of PSM/RMP, Cal/ARP, Production and USDA personnel.

b) Perform frequent on-the-job inspections to ensure employee safe working habits, safe work areas, high quality workmanship and effectiveness of maintenance and repairs.

c) Evaluate, prioritize and schedule maintenance repair requests to ensure timely completion of all repair actions.

d) Accurately estimate materials and manpower costs for job orders and project requests.

e) Routinely inspect equipment for needed repairs and maintenance. Prepare maintenance repair requests.

Proved technical assistance to assigned personnel in the following areas: proper operation of equipment, proper use of maintenance manuals/schematics, efficient troubleshooting and proper maintenance/repair of equipment.

Coordinate the site-specific training and implementation of emergency response teams within Foster Farms and with local Hazardous Materials Responders.

Coordinates with project engineers in the technical design review of new projects and equipment to ensure appropriate controls are in place as it pertains to PSM or RMP regulated chemicals.

Leads Incident Investigations that involve PSM or RMP listed chemicals and processes, performs root cause analysis/PHA’s, and helps develop action plans that will prevent recurrences.

Continue to develop, update, and maintain corporate PSM and RMP programs that comply with changing federal, state, and local regulations.

Conduct monthly environmental inspections and update all required records

Develop and maintain a pressure vessel database, ensure that inspections are conducted on a timely basis, and maintain current operating permits.


1. Engineering or BA Degree or equivalent experience

2. Minimum five years experience in ammonia refrigeration including mechanical integrity functions and SOP development.

3. RETA CIRO certification.

4. Strong oral and written communications skills and the ability to work in both individual and team work settings with minimum supervision.

5. 3-5 years maintenance supervisory experience, in a production environment

6. Project management, project development skills and experience.
