Oversee performance of microbial fermentation research platforms and bioreactors including installation, control system configuration, calibration, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, optimization, and similar.
*** Perform engineering analysis of fermentation research workflow to troubleshoot and repair underlying microelectronic components and circuits.
***Schedule maintenance activities and services with equipment contractors.
*** Configure and maintain Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition systems (SCADA) and lab data communications networks.
*** Integrate new instrumentation for online data capture and ensure adherence to Object Linking and Embedding for Process Control Open Platform Communication standards and specifications.
*** Create new systems and methods to increase data quality utilizing MATLAB, Mathematica, or similar.
*** Assist with new equipment design, fabrication, and installation.
*** Order related parts and consumables and maintain records, inventories, & schedules.
*** Develop Standard Operating Procedures for instrument maintenance and operation.
*** Teach lab personnel operating procedures and physical principles related to underlying instrument function.
*** Provide technical expertise related to fermentation, associated instrumentation technologies, and biotechnology principles.
