Job Description

Summary of the duties of the position:

Accountable for the professional and technical leadership of the maintenance and reliability engineering staff and the continuous improvement of operational capability and capacity


Primary responsibilities for this position:

  • Supports the development and maintains knowledge of Grace & industry best practices for maintenance engineering
  • Provides mentoring and professional development for the engineers in their team
  • Allocates engineering resources to achieve goals and priorities
  • Establishes the methodologies, tools, standards, and operating procedures for maintenance engineering
  • Maintains the prioritized portfolio of current and potential projects
  • Investigates new technologies for process and productivity improvements
  • Serves as a working leader with direct accountability for providing maintenance engineering services to the site
  • Maintains over-all understanding of process capability & capacity
  • Identifies and defines requirements for process improvement / productivity projects
  • Develops process engineering packages for new products or equipment with external support (R&D  and Process Technology)
  • Supports troubleshooting long term process / production issues
  • Manages Critical equipment lists and analysis
  • Ensures usage of process related best practices & standards
  • Optimizes production planning guidance - Product Wheel, EOQ, etc.
  • Manages minor capital & non capital projects
  • Facilitates process mapping, kaizen and value stream mapping events aimed at developing a project pipeline
  • Ensures control plans are developed
  • Conducts regulatory compliance calculations, reporting and interfacing
  • Participates in safety programs and initiatives
  • Supports, facilitates and provides statistical data analysis for RCAs
  • Supports the training of site personnel
  • Conduct Management of Change (MOCs)
  • Conduct Process Hazard Analysis (PHAs) including GMP and PSSR
  • Conducts Commissioning and Startup Activities
  • Conducts OIRs and incident investigations
  • Supports Purchasing/GRs/New Vendors/Requisitions
  • Redlines Engineering Drawings and Documents
  • Ensures engineering documents and drawings are completed by Engineers
  • Manage process information and updates for P&ID, MOC, Interlock Schedule, etc.
  • Assists with emergencies

Required Experience

  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or another engineering discipline
  • 7+ years engineering experience in a chemical manufacturing plant with 3+ years of maintenance engineering or reliability engineering experience
  • Leadership experience preferred
