Plant Machine Design Engineer Job Responsibilities:

  • Plan, design, and coordinate the integration of machinery into the manufacturing processes.
  • Manage projects that require the in-house design and fabrication of capital equipment. 
  • Assist in new equipment projects.
  • Diagnose and resolve causes of mechanical malfunctions on all equipment.
  • Recommends and initiates modifications or replacement of equipment, which fail to meet operating standards.
  • Plans, directs and records periodic machine analysis on the equipment.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement projects.
  • Provides technical support to the maintenance department when required.
  • Assist with preparing preventative maintenance schedule for new equipment.
  • Research and implement the most cost effective replacement of parts.
  • Maintain assembly and part drawings as well as schematics on all equipment.
  • Prepare technical manuals for new equipment.
  • Coordinate order and delivery of mechanical parts.
  • Recommends the spare parts inventory for all new and existing production equipment to insure maximum machine utilization.
  • Participate as TS16949 and/or ISO14001Internal Audits as assigned.
  • Follows safety regulations and enforces compliance with company safety rules and regulations. 

Machine Design Engineer Education and Technical Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degreerequired in Engineering.
  • Five years related work experience designing machinery and equipment.
  • Proficient in Auto Cad.
  • Strong analytic and problem solving skills to drive to root cause, and able to implement effective and cost-efficient solutions.
  • Experience and ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Basic understanding of common machine shop practices.
  • Functional knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, servo drives, stepper drives, variable frequency drives, robotics and vision systems.
  • Self-motivated with good communication skills.
  • Ability to function & lead in a team environment.
