Position Summary

The Local Sales Manager is responsible for leading our day to day operations of the Sales department. The ideal candidate will motivate our team of sales professionals to maximize revenue opportunities across various platforms including new business and digital platforms.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Essential duties and responsibilities are but not limited to:

  • Reporting directly to the Director of Sales, you will maintain a cutting-edge sales team; identifying any staffing requirements
  • Manage recruitment, training, evaluation, and development of sales staff
  • Establish sales strategies, plans, and special projects in support of revenue goals including budgets, while consulting the Director of Sales
  • Develops and executes sales strategies which result in exceeding revenue targets in local, new business and digital revenue
  • Contributes to customer satisfaction and retention by attending client meetings
  • Manages inventory and revenue forecasting; review and resolve preemptions
  • Prepares budgets and approves budget expenditures
  • Contributes to the weekly sales meetings; prepared with local updates /actions
  • Manages accounts receivable ensuring monthly action items are executed
  • Ensure strong performance of local accounts; develops and cultivates client relationships alongside Account Executives
  • Performs other duties as assigned; occasional extended hours and weekends

Requirements & Skills:

  • Minimum of three to five years of media sales experience is a must
  • Proven influence to manage Account Executives successfully
  • Understanding of television and media marketing plans
  • Ability to work with and adapt to many personality types within the sales staff and client base
  • Experience guiding, directing and motivating personnel, including setting and monitoring performance standards
  • Experience establishing long-range objectives and specifying the strategies and actions to achieve them
  • Ability to identify the developmental needs of others and to coach, mentor or otherwise help others to improve their knowledge or skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Advertising or Mass Communications, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
  • Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, and other office equipment
  • Experience with Wide Orbit Traffic, Strata, Matrix, and ComScore is preferred
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
