Position Summary: The Local Marketing Manager (LMM) is responsible for hospitals’ marketing activities. The individual maximizes the execution of national marketing campaigns while developing marketing strategies to be implemented locally by individual or group of hospitals. The LMM assists Hospital Managers with their local marketing efforts and identifies and addresses the specific marketing needs in the development of individual hospital’s marketing plans.

While the LMM reports to the Director, Marketing Operations and is part of the Support Office Marketing Team, this role is an integral part of supporting the Field Team and will be relied upon to provide exemplary service to their internal customers, while supporting the initiatives of the Marketing Department.

This position will work remotely within the assigned region and will travel up to 40% of the time, mostly to various hospitals within that region.

The ideal candidate would be located in close proximity to one of the following markets: Chicago, Indianapolis or Detroit with easy access to a major airport.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead pro-active relationship building charge; have a 360 degree view and understanding of all local marketing activities for hospitals in their region.

    • Oversee marketing support activities for hospitals in collaboration with the Support Office Marketing Group.

    • Ensure two-way channel communications between the Support Office and the Field, for maximum information sharing and efficiency gains.

      • Ensure the local needs are understood by the Support office.

  • Assure optimal social media presence for hospitals by identifying and researching social media storyline possibilities that are aligned with VCA’s positioning and mission and resonate with our clients. Help in maintaining the best possible online and offline reputation.

  • Research media alternatives and options; recommend media that most-effectively supports a particular program; negotiate best rates on behalf of hospitals; insure measurable tracking is integrated into media.

  • Support hospitals in developing their marketing plan. Where possible, provide market insights into local conditions, competition, changing landscape, industry trends, etc. See how to integrate national programs into the hospital’s plan for a synergistic approach. Maximize new business and client retention, local programs, and activities, with special emphasis on underperforming hospitals.

  • Pro-actively assist and train hospitals on keeping their websites up-to-date and fresh with local content that is relevant, interesting, and informative.

  • Leverage VCA’s brand using public relations highlighting positive stories happening in our hospitals.

    • Assist in PR crisis management.

  • Present on marketing activities at regional meetings
  • Set metrics and report on marketing activities
  • Be responsible in meeting goals and objectives

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: This role calls for an individual with marketing knowledge that intuitively and quickly can assess market dynamics and situations and act accordingly. Additionally, this Manager with skills in project planning and management must demonstrate strong and clear accountability. The person, with his or her analytical abilities, will have broad and deep understanding of animal hospital marketing. Technical and managerial skills coupled with computer literacy (Microsoft Office, especially Excel), social media knowledge and interpersonal communication skills are required. The candidate must possess excellent verbal and written communication and leadership skills.

Qualifications (Education & Experience):

  • Bachelordegree or higher in business or marketing.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in multi-location business marketing or management-level, preferably in veterinary or health-related industries.
