The Linux Systems Engineer plays a leading role in system design, automation, implementation and administration. This individual will apply his or her engineering expertise to help continue to build out, automate, monitor, and support Dynata's continuously growing and ever evolving platform. The Systems Engineer will partner closely with Networking, DevOps, Database Admins, and Software Engineering to successfully engage on projects and initiatives as well as to deliver quality implementations.


  • Build and manage a globally distributed infrastructure.
  • Participate in infrastructure expansion/enhancement projects of varying size and scope
  • Create, automate, provision, and deploy Linux-based operating systems/applications
  • Ensure system stability, scalability, security, and performance
  • Create and maintain documentation surrounding Dynata's infrastructure
  • Think out of the box and solve complex scaling challenges
  • Demonstrate best-practice knowledge and apply skills to deliver an effective solution specific to partners


  • Experience managing Linux machines running on AWS (EC2, S3, etc.)
  • Solid configuration management skills; Ansible preferred
  • Experience with Docker and orchestration of Docker (Swarm, Kubernetes)
  • 3+ years of experience with Linux administration in large (100's-1000's) server environments
  • Experience with scripting and system automation (Bash, Python, Perl, Ruby, etc.)
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent IT work experience
  • Experience supporting DNS, Apache/NGINX, load balancers (HAProxy, F5, Citrix Netscaler etc.)
  • Solid virtualization experience (VMware)
  • Provide/update documentation per corporate standards
  • Strong diagnostic expertise including problem investigation, root-cause analysis, and resolution skills
  • Experience working with source code control (Gitlab, Github, git, etc.)
  • Experience with server and storage hardware (HP, DELL, Nimble, Pure Storage)
  • Experience with backup software (NetBackup)
