The Corporate Legal Counsel prepares, reviews, negotiates, and advises on legal contracts and agreements between the company and any external or internal vendors/customers. The incumbent researches and analyzes laws and regulations for company clients and provides opinion on legal risks and mitigation associated with the company business activities. The incumbent will be the Legal lead as it relates to Contract Lifecycle Management and interacting with the Purchasing department and other business units. The incumbent will manage outside counsel where necessary and review legal publications and pending legislation to advise management of changes that impact the company. He/She will provide guidance on compliance matters, works with affiliates in intercompany business issues providing legal counseling, education, and training as needed.
Experience and Education: Possesses knowledge of legal subject matter. JD degree and membership of state bar required with 2-6 years experience as a practicing attorney. Performs work under minimal supervision. Handles medium to complex issues and problems, and refers only the more complex issues to higher-level staff. Knowledge of US and Canadian privacy laws and compliance requirements a plus but not required. Knowledge and experience with secured transactions a plus but not required.
