Job Description
WSP’s Water and Environment practice is seeking a Senior Water Resource Engineer or Senior Geologistwith strong analytical and modeling skills to join our Orlando, Florida water resources team. The ideal candidate will provide technical leadership and project management on various integrated water resources and water supply projects that include hydrologic, hydrogeologic and hydraulic principles and analyses. Typical projects involve groundwater and surface water supply, natural resource management and other watershed planning projects, master planning, consumptive use permitting and planning, and reclaimed water planning studies. The candidate must demonstrate a high degree of initiative, technical competence and flexibility. Candidates with certification in specialty areas or continuing education in advanced modeling, analysis and design methodologies should provide that information. Position Description:

  • Utilize competency and experience to manage, guide and implement project assignments in multiple disciplines including hydrology, hydrogeology, hydraulics, feasibility studies, steady state and dynamic groundwater flow modeling, and watershed and natural resource assessments
  • Communicate with clients, establish goals and objectives for project teams, and schedule and coordinate resources to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to the performance expectations of the client
  • Support proposal development and business development initiatives on a variety of water-related as well as interdisciplinary projects
  • Use industry-specific water resources software, which may include ArcGIS, MODFLOW / Groundwater Vistas, HEC-RAS, ICPR, SWMM, InfoWater, and AutoCAD

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Master's Degree preferred) in Civil, Water Resources or Environmental Engineering, Groundwater Geology or Hydrogeology, or a closely related field
  • Minimum of 7-9 years’ experience in water resources engineering or hydrogeology
  • Proven track record of leading complex technical assignments
  • Experience with hydrologic, hydraulic, or groundwater software and analysis techniques
  • Planning, permitting, modeling, analysis and design of groundwater, surface water or stormwater systems, including water quantity and water quality considerations
  • Knowledge of:
    • Florida TMDL and MFL regulations
    • Florida consumptive use permitting processes for various water management districts
  • Self-starter with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to travel and perform field work at project sites
  • PE or PG required; the ability to obtain FL PE or PG within 6 months of hire required

Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS) and GIS applications
  • Experience with hydrologic, hydraulic, and groundwater software
  • Affiliations with professional societies and community involvement are highly desirable
