We operate the only federally funded research and development center (FFRDC) committed exclusively to the space enterprise. Our technical experts span every discipline of space-related science and engineering. Join our team and thrive in a career that matters to the world and you personally. The Aerospace Corporation is seeking a lead systems engineer for a family of internal technical computing environments called the Enterprise Engineering Ecosystem (E3).
The E3 architecture is a combination of hardware, software, and networking elements for developing and operating advanced applications to support multiple national security space programs and missions. Multiple instances of the architecture will be fielded on different networks at different classification levels. The environment includes both infrastructure- and platform-as-a-service cloud capabilities, operating as a hybrid cloud using primarily on-premises resources with the ability to extend to secure commercial cloud providers as necessary.
E3 includes services for application development and deployment, including Docker container management and deployment capabilities (e.g., Kubernetes). It hosts internally developed, commercial, and open-source applications that take advantage of the high-performance infrastructure, including AI and machine learning apps. Software-defined networking (SDN) will be used to improve cyber security and application agility. The infrastructure will include databases and data management capabilities to support applications running in the environment. Cyber security is embedded at all levels of the architecture.
The lead systems engineer will act as the product owner for the E3 environment, responsible for working with the engineering team to understand and codify requirements for E3 and translate those requirements into a managed, prioritized backlog of engineering work. He/she will then work with the team to execute the backlog, using agile methods (e.g., Scrum) to schedule the work so that appropriate milestones and deliveries are met.
