Responsible for the technical design, planning, implementation, performance and recovery of the systems and networks that comprise the computing infrastructure of the Computer Science Department. Serves as a technical expert in the area of system administration for complex networks and operating systems. Manage day-to-day operations, troubleshoot problems, provide routine maintenance and capacity planning, provision resources, ensure security and high availability, develop and document procedures and practices. Supervise System Administrators including hiring, training and evaluating performance. Remain current with new technologies, recommend new or improved services, tools and techniques.
*Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
*Minimum 5 years of experience in network and system administration
*In-depth knowledge of Unix/Linux operating systems
*In-depth knowledge of system software, network technologies and security
*Knowledge of MacOS and Windows operating systems
*Knowledge of shared filesystems and database systems
*Strong skills and experience diagnosing and solving network and system problems
*Experience leading or supervising a technical team
*Excellent communication skills.
