Due to continued growth, our Power Delivery group is seeking a Substation Physical Engineer to join our Orlando, FL office preferably. Other potential locations include Kennesaw, GA, Tampa, FL or Palm Beach Gardens, FL. This position could also be remote for the right individual based on years of experience, and skills.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to participate and contribute toward complex projects in both a design and project leadership capacity, interfacing with our current and future customers directly while working on challenging and exciting low to high voltage substation projects.
Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
- Lead a team to perform 4kV - 500 kV substation physical design. Typical design deliverables incudes one line drawings, three line drawings, general arrangement drawings, section and plan views, conduit and cable plan & schedule, grounding plan, foundation plan drawings,
- Perform substation design calculations and analysis such as ground grid analysis and lightning protection studies, lighting design, rigid bus calculations, AC and DC voltage drop calculations.
- Perform quality control checks for substation physical engineering design projects.
- Coordinate projects with different teams for Protection & Controls, Structural, Civil, Transmission and Design/Drafting teams.
- Develop technical equipment and construction specifications and work scopes.
- Work closely with peers to ensure accurate and on-time delivery of electrical design that will meet client and industry standards and specifications and meet good engineering practices.
- Providing on-site technical support for select ENERCON clients during construction and commissioning as required.
- Assist lead engineers and project team in the developing project cost estimates, schedules, and budgets.
- Perform quality control checks on small to medium sized substation physical engineering projects.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications / Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering, with 6 or more years’ experience in substation physical engineering design.
- Experience with Microstation, AutoCad and/or Bluebeam.
- P.E. license is preferred in this role, but not a requirement.
- Familiarity with NESC, IEEE and other applicable codes and standards.
- Willingness to enter energized electric substations with proper training and PPE.
- Ability and willingness to travel 10% of the time. To include travel for project and marketing meetings as well as to clients' construction sites, requiring a valid driver's license, and having access to a car. Most travel is expected to be within driving distance of the ENERCON office at this time.
- Self-driven in time management to meet deadlines and provide accurate deliverables.
- Proficient with typical office software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Windows.

Ability to pass a pre-employment and random drug and alcohol screenings, ENERCON and client specific background checks, and annual motor vehicle record (MVR) according to company and client procedures.
