POSITION SUMMARY:

TIAA’s Production Services & Architecture (PS&A) team is responsible for all architecture, engineering and infrastructure operations of our core technology assets as part of a streamlined, strategic approach that ensures low cost, high quality delivery from initial architectural decisions through engineering to long-term operational support.The PS&A team collaborates closely with our business-aligned partners in technology and with key stakeholders across the enterprise.As a Lead Solution Architect for storage you will leverage your background in SAN, NAS, Object and Cloud storage to lead in the engineering and architecture of our storage solutions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Provide technical leadership and oversight of the storage platform
  • Provide escalation for the Enterprise SAN and SAN attached arrays, network attached storage (NAS), Object storage, and disk based backup/restore technology in a mission/business critical environment
  • Work with various vendors to maintain equipment including firmware, service packs, security patches, etc. to ensure the maximum performance, security, and availability of the systems
  • Evaluate, select, integrate, and implement new products and technologies
  • Lead in the planning, design, and implementation of new product in storage area for on premise and cloud environment
  • Define and promote standards, guidelines, and policies for the use and integration of technology
  • Define key performance indicators and thresholds for storage systems
  • Identify strategic initiatives and plans to improve KPIs for core services
  • Develop technical partnerships with key support, architecture, and operations teams
  • Coordinate with operations team to act as an escalation point for all tier 3 escalations
  • Deploy approved release packages and break-fix solutions in accordance with all enterprise architecture and configuration, change, and release management policies and procedures
  • Develop and maintain custom scripts and stored procedures to automate repetitive tasks and improve consistency in operations and maintenance activities
  • Educate customers and provide easy and clear roadmap of the storage platform
  • Manage, retain and grow enterprise relationships
  • Create Documentation Library and runbook procedures for Level 1 operations to follow

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Experience

  • Ten or more years of experience of SAN, NAS, object storage, software defined storage and/or hyper-converged-infrastructure
  • Prior enterprise storage engineering/architecture experience including experience with EMC and other storage technologies and operating systems such as EMC (VMAX, Data Domain), NetApp storage and subsystems, Brocade Fibre Switches, Nexus 5K, NetApp Storage Arrays, EMC Networker, Avamar Unix (AIX, Solaris, HP Unix), Linux and Windows
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Perl, Shell, Puppet, Python, Ansible
  • Experience leading infrastructure development projects or software development projects
  • Public (AWS, Azure, Google, etc.) and priviate (VMWare) cloud storge and container tehncology (OpenShift, Kubernetes, Docker, etc.) expeirance preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in commuter or information science or another engineering related field of study
