Team Description:
Cast and Parks Operations within DXT is seeking a Lead Software Engineer with a passion for building world-class products and a desire to transform the way the Walt Disney Company interacts with its Cast. The Lead Software Engineer applies practical knowledge of technologies and concepts to lead software engineering teams on large projects, provides technical guidance and oversight, and is a point of escalation and technical expert. As part of the Cast and Parks Operations team, you will participate in changing the landscape of critical, Cast-facing software solutions. These systems are responsible for functions ranging from optimizing the efficiency of park operations to dramatically improving the way training is delivered to our Cast. In this role, you will work with an accomplished and supportive team of resources and leadership to create the connected experiences that make Disney an employer of choice.

Responsibilities of the Role:

You Will:
  • Drive technical strategy and design decisions and the reduction of technical debt for complex web-based solutions, including SPAs, Electron apps, and microservices.
  • Ensure best practices in CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment for multi-region environments.
  • Mentor and coach engineering team members on modern frameworks (Node.js, .NET, Javascript, Typescript, Angular, etc.) and cloud-first design principles, providing sound technical guidance and oversight.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product teams, business teams, and other technology teams to deliver secure, performant, and maintainable solutions with high value to business partners.
  • Champion observability and reliability by implementing monitoring, logging, and alerting strategies for global deployments.
  • Influence technology roadmap by evaluating tools and frameworks for scalability, security, and developer productivity.
  • Ensure best practices in writing clean, testable code and the unit and automated tests that go with it that serve to reduce error prone manual testing efforts, and increase reliability of releases
  • Drive innovation for existing large software solutions as well as new opportunities that would significantly impact future development and increasing value to the business


Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 8 years of software engineering experience in design, development, and implementation of highly scalable software systems and components
  • A minimum of 2 years of proven experience in technical leadership
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Deep expertise in cloud-native architectures, preferably AWS (Lambda, API Gateway, etc).
  • Experience working with RDBMS (MariaDB, MySQL, etc) and working with large datasets used for predictive analysis
  • Strong proficiency in Node.js and C#/.NET Core, with experience building SPAs and desktop apps using Electron.
  • Hands-on experience with RESTful APIs and serverless architecture and their security using authentication/authorization (OAuth 2.0, JWT).
  • Proven track record in designing highly scalable, globally distributed systems.
  • Experience with DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines and containerization (Docker)
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with ability to influence technical direction across teams.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with AWS serverless computing solutions or similar cloud platforms
  • Experience with C#/.NET
  • Experience designing and developing mobile applications
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code
  • Experience working with globally distributed teams
  • Master's degree in computer science or equivalent work experience.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar field or related work experience.
The hiring range for this position in Orlando, FL is $148,300.00 to $198,800.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
