The Lead Software Engineer is responsible for leading the development and deployment of new software features and maintenance of existing systems ensuring that  the established standards of functionality, reliability, usability and performance. The successful candidate will lead planning activities for the feature development, coordinate with the Quality Assurance team in order to create production grade software, work with the Product team to elaborate requirements and chalk out road map, coach junior developers, estimate work, release teams for deployments to Production & help the technical Operations teams better optimize the application server for optimal production performance.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead the feature development delivering production grade code complete with unit, integration and load tests. Focus on areas of reporting pipeline & custom reports
  • Resolve technical road blocks encountered by the team
  • Socialize with Product management to elicit meaningful and executable requirements for the team
  • Ensure optimal code coverage and code quality for the entire feature or system
  • Work with product, quality assurance and technical operations to release code to Production
  • Jointly lead with the development manager daily scrum meetings and otherAgile ceremonies surrounding estimation, planning and retrospectives
  • Work with managers and other software engineers to come up with realistic estimates and able to plan work of the team on a daily basis with consciousness of deadlines and commitments
  • Evaluate and/or implement tools needed for achieving continuous integration
  • Produce quality documentation for any features, APIs and enhancements using common sense & optimal approaches
  • Introduce & implement new ideas and tools geared to create better software that runs optimally in Production

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 5 – 8years relevant experience in a software development role using Java as the primary programming language in a Linux application server environment building Production grade software with at least 1-2 years in a Technical Leadership position
  • Strong proficiency using Java/JEE, Core Spring Framework, MVC Frameworks such as Spring MVC, Spring Cloud, Hibernate and JPA
  • Experience with SOA, Restful Web Services and API development
  • Excellent knowledge of SQL, relational database design principles and transaction management
  • Deep understanding of data structures, algorithms and design patterns (GoF)
  • Experience with Tableau or other Reporting Tools is a very big plus
  • Experience with build, deploy and test automation tools like Maven, Hudson, Jenkins, Chef, Junit/TestNG, Selenium, JMeter or similar tools
  • A working knowledge of at least one Java enterprise application server (Tomcat, JBoss, Glassfish, etc.) and a web server like Apache
  • Knowledge & passion for distributed computing and public cloud tools. AWS Experience especially Simple Workflow and S3 is strongly desired
  • ExperiencetroubleshootingSaaS production issues, including web application server configuration and performance tuning

  • Ability to successfully work under tight project deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with JVM internals and garbage collection
  • Experience with agile, test-driven development
  • Some JavaScript experience with working knowledge of frameworks like Node.js, Angular JS and React JS
  • Experience with in-memory databases/NoSQL databases
  • Experience with messaging (JMS), messaging protocols (AMNQP), messaging systems such as Kafka or similar frameworks
  • Experience with Oracle and PL/SQL
  • Experience with real time, high volume transaction systems
  • Experienceworking with multithreaded and highly concurrent systems
  • Experience with highly-available systems with clustered/cloud architectures
