Lead Software Engineer - DEM Platform & Reliability at New Relic in Hartford, CT

Our Lead Software Engineers guide the design, construction, maintenance, and scale of our high performance back-end streaming systems. They are hands on in the code, and utilize their knowledge and skills to help their teams bake automation, quality, reliability, scalability, and simplicity into everything they do. We hire fantastic engineers, and you will guide them utilizing modern DevOps and SRE practices. They lead by example, and work closely with engineering management, product management, technical support, and design to build the right features and ensure our customers understand their digital business.

We have a globally distributed development organization with teams spanning a nine-hour swath of timezones. The only way to keep all those teams in sync is through written communications.

Your Qualifications

Must-have:

• 7+ years of technical leadership with robust engineering teams
• Experience building and operating high-scale distributed systems
• Collaborative and able to successfully navigate multi-functional teams within the organization
• Published papers, presentations, or blog posts demonstrating written technical communication skill

Nice-to-have:

• An advanced degree (MS or PhD) in a STEM field
• Full stack knowledge of systems fundamentals
• Site Reliability Engineering experience
