Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of relevant work experience with consumer and handheld product design.
  • Experience with CAD tools (PTC Creo) and mechanical simulation tools.
  • Experience with mechanical design of plastic and metal components, PCBs/FPCBs, and acoustics used in consumer electronic products.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of consumer electronics experience.
  • Experience with fabrication.
  • Experience shipping multiple products in a lead or principal engineer role.
  • Experience collaborating across project teams.
  • Excellent leaderships, teamwork, program management and communication skills.

About the job

As a member of a fast-paced multi-disciplinary team, you use your creativity and diverse range of engineering experience to explore solutions to a variety of engineering problems. As a mechanical engineer, you participate in the design, analysis, and prototyping of new concepts. You work in a manufacturing and product oriented development environment and collaborate with vendors and outside sources in order to see parts through to manufacture.

As a Product Design Engineer you will help to reinvent the shape of electronics, balancing comfort, performance, and appearance. You will lead a team on the entire process and workflow of product development, working closely with cross-functional teams including Industrial Design, Hardware, Quality, and Operations to produce compelling design driven solutions to multifaceted problems that require detailed considerations of all parties involved. Additionally, you will help brainstorm solution concepts, trouble shoot design issues, and advise team members with a wide variety of tools that are used during the design and production process.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the subsystem and/or individual part designs from concept to production.
  • Oversee supplier/partners of subsystems and/or individual part design from concept to production.
  • Investigate cause design issues to improve designs with the goal of successfully deliver products to mass production.
  • Design for function, reliability, human factors, manufacturability, and cosmetic requirements.
  • Lead and train a product development team who understands and executes on all hardware and strategic objectives.
