Description:

Lockheed Martin is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Orlando, FL facility and be responsible for the mechanical design, engineering documentation, trade studies, and drawing release for a selected program.

Perform weights and tolerance analysis on system components.

Work concepts and detail designs to fit Platform Requirements.

Designer will work the design layout, and follow-up working with mechanical analyst to ensure the design meets all requirements.

Experience in composite design, metal machining, castings, and forgings are preferred.

Additionally, the designer will work with the supplier during the design and manufacturing process to mitigate any production issues.

Work closely with Mechanical Engineering to support all program objectives.

Travel may be required on an as needed basis.

Selected candidate will perform conceptual, detail structural design, and producibility studies.

Leading the team through a delta PDR and CDR, hardware fabrication, integration, and test phases.

Experience on tactical missile design and configuration, ability to perform trade studies and interface with major suppliers on complex mechanical assemblies.

They will work closely with Mechanical Engineering to support all program objectives.

Travel may be required on an as needed basis.

Basic Qualifications:
-Candidates must be a US Citizen and have the ability to obtain a Department of Defense Secret Clearance.

-Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university, preferably in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.

-Minimum of 7 years of professional experience (with MS Degree) or at least 9 years of professional experience (with BS Degree) creating system level CAD models and using them to create drawings.

Candidates MUST also have:
-Experience with composites, wing design, and actuation systems.
-Professional 3D design experience using CATIA V.5 (highly preferred) or Pro-E CREO.
-Knowledge of GD&T


Desired Skills:
-Active Department of Defense Secret Clearance
-Experience on tactical missile design and configuration, ability to perform trade studies and interface with major suppliers on complex mechanical assemblies.
-Previous LMC experience is a plus.
-Experience in the following skills is preferred: large scale forgings with intricate machining operations, composite fabrication, load path design, critical bolted joint design, and previous MRB experience.
