Position Description

The Payment Integrity Software Engineering team is looking for strong technologists who are collaborative, self -starters, take ownership / accountability and drive results. The Lead Java Software Engineer for the Fraud Waste and Abuse and Error - based platforms will provide work direction for one or more Scrum teams, work with Product Owners/Functional experts and Senior Management all the while performing hands-on coding. You will be delivering on strategic initiatives for Cloud, Big Data and APIs for all of Optum Product Engineering while advocating and accelerating DevOps/Agile adoption.   This position can be located in our office in Eden Prairie, MN; Raleigh, NC; Franklin, TN; West Valley City, UT; Boston, MA; Rocky Hill or Hartford, CT. This position is not open to telecommuting.   Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform all phases of software engineering including requirements analysis, application design, code development and testing
  • Design and implement product features including reusable components, frameworks and libraries in collaboration with business and IT stakeholders
  • Work very closely with architecture groups and drive solutions
  • Participate in an Agile/Scrum methodology to deliver high-quality software

The complexity of this role can be challenging. We deal with huge amounts of data across our entire enterprise. Everything you work on will have implications that impact others. We’ll provide the most up-to-datetechnology, but you’ll need to provide creativity, critical thinking and clarity on an everyday basis.

Required Qualifications:

  • BS / BA in applicable area of expertise or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of development experience in Java and related tools/software
  • Experience / exposure to API integration frameworks
  • Demonstrated complex analytical problem solving skills
  • Excellent time management, communication, decision making, and presentation skills
  • CI/CD experience (preferably Jenkins)
  • 3+ months cloud experience in production. This can be public cloud or private cloud, OSE v3 is preferred (Open Shift Enterprise), Docker, Cloud based API development

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the healthcare industry
  • 5+ years of Agile and working on a Scrum team
  • Knowledge of and appreciation for the DevOps culture
  • iLog or other business rule engine experience
  • Experience in using modern software engineering and product development tools including Agile / SAFE, Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, etc
  • Proven track record of building relationships across cross-functional teams
  • Experience with REST/ JSON APIs, Java, Spring, and Springboot
  • UNIX experience (shell scripting, awk, sed, grep, sort, vi, etc.)
  • Demonstrate being an avid supporter of the Open Source software community
  • Oracle knowledge/experience
  • Experience of developing cloud based API gateways would be highly desirable
  • Experience with DevOps , Big Data , Cloud OSE v3, Gradle , GIT Version Control , Docker
  • Automation experience
  • Strong experience of operating in a quickly changing environment and driving technological innovation to meet business requirement
