Lead Information Security Engineer

The Lead Information Security Engineer implements and maintains CDW’s Information Security technical controls in accordance with the corporate information security program. The Lead Information Security Engineer performs the identification, evaluation, selection, design, implementation and optimization of new CDW Information Security initiatives. The Lead Information Security Engineer provides third level support for securityevents and incidents and resolves or escalates as necessary.


Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to Information Security Engineers and Associate Engineers
  • Oversee training and onboarding of new coworkers in the department.
  • Maintain open communication to all stakeholders keeping them current on status.
  • Continuously research cybersecurity trends and emerging securitytechnologies
  • Determine operating requirements, costs, as well as resource needs for assigned projects
  • Develop, implement and maintain the information security safeguards and measures to enforce CDW information security policies, standards, and procedures
  • Consult with internal business partners to identify security requirements and implement necessary security controls
  • This role will be approximately 75% dedicated to project work and 25% security operational support
  • Provide level 3 support for Information Security
  • Lead information security incident response activity
  • Participate in weeklong 24/7 on-call support rotation and off hours or weekends as needed
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and vendors
  • Minimal travel


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 10 of information technologyexperience
  • 6 years of cumulative information securityexperience which should encompass three or more of the following domains:
    • SecurityArchitecture and Design
    • Network & Endpoint Security
    • Cryptography and Public Key Infrastructure
    • Security Monitoring & Incident Handling
    • Vulnerability Management
    • Identity & Access Management
    • Security Operations
    • Software Development Security
    • Information Security Governance and Risk Management



  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with team members and stakeholders
  • Demonstrated technical leadership ability



  • Any relevant security certifications, such as: GIAC or CISSP
  • Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP applications and protocols, Microsoft Windows and Linux platforms
  • Web Filtering, Malware Analysis, Data Loss Prevention, IDS/IPS, Firewall, Digital Forensics
