The Lead, GPMO Reporting & Standards will be an integral part of the Global Program Management Office.  This position is a business partner for the greater GPM organization as well as key stakeholders in the R&D and GPS organizations.  The role requires a talented individual with proven expertise in portfolio and program level reporting, resourcing analytics, and in-depth analyses for senior leadership, functional area leads, and governing bodies (PLC/ILC).  Along with developing and reporting for the overall portfolio, the Lead, GPMO reporting & standards is expected to provide business insights on key milestones and program progress reports. 

The Lead, GPMO reporting & standards is expected to be knowledgeable about the overall R&D portfolio in order to be strategic in planning, progress oversight, communication, delivering high quality reporting and insights, and other high value services that support senior leadership and drive quality of GPMO reports.  They are expected to be knowledgeable about industry trends that drive portfolio analytics, techniques and methodologies for evaluating portfolio level information, and understand and drive portfolio data quality. 

The Lead, GPMO Reporting & Standards will:

  • Be a key business partner for GPM organization and key external R&D and GPS stakeholders
  • Create and provide R&D portfolio and program level reporting, resourcing, and in-depth analyses for senior leadership, functional area leads, and governing bodies (PLC/ILC)
  • Provide business insights on key milestones and program progress reports
  • Drive external reporting for R&D including the Shire Coms hub, Investor relations and the SEC
  • Participate in and manage special projects and initiatives
  • Involved in infrastructure, templates, and process development activities required to drive quality and timely reporting utilizing reporting standards

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Experience in drug development and /or commercialization in a pharmaceutical environment
  • Minimum of 3years of cross-functional program management experience, or the equivalent
  • Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in the pharma/biotech industry, or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated experience with advanced analytical tools/models and decision-support platforms
  • Demonstrated experience in portfolio management reporting, technologies and processes for delivery of integrated program/product information
  • Applied knowledge of project, portfolio, and financial management practices
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and processes without routine supervision to deliver key accountabilities
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of global drug product development and commercialization in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Strong understanding and competency in planning processes and decision-making
  • Training, coaching and leadership experience
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent proficiency a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in life sciences or business required; advanced degree in life sciences or MBA preferred

  • Fluency (spoken and written) in English

Complexity and Problem Solving

  • Support Pipeline and In-Line Committees by providing cross-business key program milestone progress, risks and variances
  • Partner with R&D leadership and function leads to build and utilize resource management capabilities
  • Provide resource planning an decision-support solutions that meet the unique needs of multiple R&D stakeholders while still aggregating for meaningful cross business analysis and reporting
  • Work with Management Reporting and Standard Lead to improve data quality within the Shire enterprise management system
  • Manage repeatable and sustainable global initiatives that provide cross-product / cross-functional activities reporting.

  • Colleagues in the Global Program Management Department
