Job Description:
- L3Harris TACCOM division is seeking a Subject Matter Expert with comprehensive knowledge Military Communications systems which transfer voice, images, video data and data messages between users.
- Our current primary spectrum frequencies include that of HF, VHF, UHF and SATCOM, which are commonly used on a multitude of platforms such as ships, vehicles, aircrafts, and base station configurations.
- The Lead Field Engineer will be charged with the in-depth interaction with Engineering, Systems, Manufacturing, Project Management and External Customers and serve as a Technical advisor involving Installation, Maintenance, and basic operability verification.
- Employee must be able to work autonomously with minimal oversight or direction.
- Strong communication skills will be required due to their interaction within and outside of the organization to explain and influence changes to practices, processes and approaches which directly impact the department.
- The lead will be charged with the knowledge base transfer of pertinent updates from Engineering to the group as well as provide technical mentoring and development of the junior department members.
- Subject matter expert with comprehensive knowledge of Tactical Communications in the areas of genera installation, maintenance, and operation of military communications among a variety of platforms to include previous experience with Ship, Aircraft, Vehicle and Base station installation and maintenance activities.
- Can provide planning and execution as a principle lead for large, complex project initiatives of substantial importance for the division.
- Responsible for working with management for contributing on the groups significant improvements in processes, systems, or products.
- Responsible for the provided training, coaching, and mentoring junior FE on developing skills and knowledge transfer of principles, and general best practice instruction of the TACOM segment products.
- Work is guided by divisional annual goals and objectives with minimal oversight or direction
- Work consists of making significant process improvements of processes, systems, solutions, or products to enhance performance of the department.
- Establishes operational plans for job area with short-term impact on results
- Provides input to Engineering for new products, processes, standards and/or operational plans that will have measurable impact on the achievement of overall function or business results.
- Frequently responsible for providing guidance, coaching, and training to other employees outside of the department within area of expertise.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
- Applicant must have a strong radio communication background with good electronic and mechanical or relevant commercial/ military experience in relevant technical area.
- Applicant must have the desire and ability to travel CONUS and International with little advance or short notice.
- Familiarity with CAD or VISIO software for mechanical and electrical assembly fabrication.
- Proficient use of all MS Office products to include Access
- Computer and Network configuration / troubleshooting
- Ability to climb ladders, towers, or other elevated work platforms.
- Basic IP and Networking skills
- Requires comprehensive level knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience or military equivalent or Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience
- 7 years of experience in team leadership and attention to detail of all aspects of work to be accomplished.
- 7 years of experience with Spectrum Analyzers, Radio Test Sets, DC/DC & AC/DC Power Systems, and Uninterruptable Power Systems
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior military experience in tactical communications
- In-depth knowledge of project management principles
- Prior Supervisory experience
- In-depth experience with military Communication products
