The Lead Engineer will work in a challenging, hands-on environment supporting both the requirements, design, development, implementation and repair of US Government telecommunications infrastructure.
Candidate must have demonstrated the ability to work in a consultative manner with others, i.e. establish rapport, interview/fact-find, define requirements, present options/recommend solutions, follow-up, and customer focused behavior.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in network engineering and engineering disciplines. Specific technical and process knowledge of delivering rigorously engineered enterprise systems.
Demonstrated knowledge of Juniper router, switch, firewall, and IPS
Demonstrated knowledge of Cisco router, switch, firewall, and IPS
Demonstrated knowledge of Advanced IPSEC networking implementations and troubleshooting
Act as technical lead on new security system initiatives or countermeasures.
Proven ability to work in a dynamic team environment with changing requirements and competing priorities
Ability to work cross-functionally with engineers, project managers, technicians, and customers
Installs, documents, and manages network and security systems, configurations, and tests/verifies processes to ensure standard and secure implementation and use of systems, tools, and processes.
Provides architectural and procedural input for installation of new systems as well as modifications to current configurations.
Test and Analyze security and network software/system tools.
Generate and Test MOPs for Network Operations.
Evaluate emerging security products and implementations developed by outside vendors.
Knowledge of configuration management documentation requirements for software & systems integration
Working knowledge of and experience with Linux/Unix operating environments
Understanding of NIST & CNSSI 1253 security hardening & documentation requirements for Linux/UNIX & Network enterprise systems
Assess proposed solutions in a system of systems environment to include the impact on network and application layer efficiencies
Assist in laboratory demonstrations and evaluations
Thorough understanding of virtualization and virtual networking (VMware).
Ability to diagram and create Visio Diagrams of Network/System Architecture
Customize security system software/hardware based on research and customer needs as appropriate.
Remotely troubleshoot and repair networksecurity tools/processes.
Hands-on Tier 3&4 support; ability to work cross-functionally with engineers, project managers, technicians, and customers
Trouble Shooting (Tier 3&4)
Experience with Remedy, Monitoring, and project task tracking tools (i.e. SolarWinds/Nagios)
Provide after-hours support on an on-call basis, as required
A Bachelor’s Degree and/or Advanced degree in a technical discipline or 7-10 years’ experience in the communications, network, and/or cybersecurity fields
Experience with Linux (Redhat, CentOS) at the command line Familiarity with IPTables, PF Firewall
Experience with Shell scripting, Perl or Python experience.
