We have an opening for a Lead Control Engineer in our Foothill Ranch, CA (Orange County) location who has responsibility for managing and leading the Control Group, encompassing all aspects of experimental control and safety systems and liaising with scientists to define areas of diagnostic control and acquisition.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage and lead the distributed control systems for experiments and test beds
Manage the effective deployment of LabVIEW, PLC based and Real Time control systems
Interface with physicists and scientists developing diagnostics and experimental systems

Required: B.S., Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Physics
Preferred: M.S. or above in relevant discipline
Software Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge and programming of National Instruments hardware, LabVIEW and Allen-Bradley PLC systems
Experience with VMware virtualization (ESXi) and distributed Ethernet networks would be beneficial
At least 7-years of experience managing, developing and deploying complex distributed control systems, either on plasma experiments or similar large scale industrial, aerospace or scientific systems
Experience, understanding and development of complex distributed control systems and their programming
Ability to lead and inspire a multi-disciplinary control group
Experience managing multiple inter-related sub-systems
Other Preferred Experience:
Experience and understanding of complex multivariable control systems
Understanding complex control and actuator systems as applied to plasma control would be beneficial
Other Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Understanding of principles of high current, high voltage systems and their protection and safety
Available to work flexible and extended hours as needed
Ability to climb and stoop/bend
