Manages the day-to-day activities and resources of the Sutter Lakeside Hospital Clinical Laboratory, which provides inpatient and outpatient laboratory services. This position serves as the primary on-site manager in regard to developing, maintaining and administering clinical laboratory policies, processes and procedures. Working within the direction provided by the Bay Acute Laboratory Executive Director, this position is responsible for planning, organizing, staffing, monitoring, controlling, coordinating, integrating, standardizing, assessing and improving the day-to-day business of the SLH Laboratory.
Ensures the provision of high quality, cost-effective laboratory services by managing the day-to-day activities of the clinical laboratory and pathology services. Maintains an effective organization structure that supports the policies, process and procedures of SLH and the Sutter Health Laboratory service line.
Effectively manages human resources by maintaining comprehensive laboratory personnel policies, processes and procedures that promote optimal performance by all laboratory staff.
Supports the laboratory path-of-workflow by effectively managing purchasing and inventory processes. Ensures appropriate equipment acquisition, installation and maintenance. Also ensures the appropriate and timely purchasing of all supplies and services required to provide quality laboratory results.
Ensures that pre-, post- and analytical processes are within control, functioning as expected, in a smooth, uninterrupted flow of work.
Effectively manages all operational information (written and electronic) to ensure accurate and timely reporting of laboratory results and accurate charge capture. Maintains a system of managing documents and records to ensure the appropriate development, distribution, storage and retrieval of all laboratory-related documents and records required by regulatory/accreditation agencies and SLH.
