Support the QA Lab Director / Executive Director of Quality in the execution of the daily schedule and laboratory workflow. Manage the employees assigned to ensure the execution of required testing while operating within all regulatory and Company guidelines. Responsible for overseeing lab testing processes with ability to troubleshoot instruments and issues. Conduct and supervisor all OOS investigations and reject investigations. Create and manage raw material inspection plans with ability to generate proposed solution if applicable. Responsible for inventory management of the analytical lab. Responsible for communicating directly to Lab Director and other Lab managers or Supervisors on discrepancies and with necessary business partners outside of the lab.

Flexible to support off-shift work when needed. Supervise and direct as needed lab staff on 2nd shift in Analytical, Microbiology and Products as needed.

Strategic responsibility: execute lab testing - 60 %

  • Oversee the output and work practices of all assigned employees to ensure procedures are followed, and the work areas are maintained in compliance with good manufacturing practices (cGMPs);

  • Monitor that internal safety, OTC and FDA guidelines are followed.

  • Work closely with manager on all lab testing for successful outcomes.

  • Conduct and supervisor investigations for Out of Specification results and reject results.

  • Oversee the proper training of staff and provide necessary guidance to the employees as needed.

  • Test and analyze raw materials, OTC products and raw materials, and non-OTC product using required test methods within a specified timeframe.

Planning and schedulingresponsibilities - 30 %

  • Assist manager to streamline workload by proper allocation and development of personnel.

  • Problem solving: work closely with manager to evaluate situations; trouble shoot equipment process and system issues;

  • Monitor and recommend daily scheduling changes as it relates to 2nd shift lab support

Personnel and Interdepartmental Responsibilities - 10 %

  • Exercise good communication skills to exchange complex information; capable of clear written and verbal communications with direct reports, peers, other departments and management;

  • Promote employee motivation and engagement;

  • Accountable to QA Analytical Lab Department: must ensure quality of services.

  • Accountable for supervising all 2nd shift lab staff as needed for continuity of lab coverage


University Degree

5 years (minimum) analytical laboratory experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory position, in a high throughput lab setting.

Travel 5%

Experience in a lab environment in supervising Lab Technicians / Chemists / Biologists handling multiple projects and effective communication skills.

Strong knowledge of GMP, ISO, GLP, FDA, OTC and safety guidelines.

Must possess excellent interpersonal, communication and problem solving skills

Familiarity in a controlled manufacturing environment (over-the-counter drugs) is a plus

Knowledge of MS Office and SAP applications preferred

Cosmetic and pharmaceutical experience a plus.
