This is an office-based position in Overland Park, Kansas. The clinicalpharmacy advisor supports a new and innovative member centric clinical careprogram for Aetna Medicaid, the Pharmacy Medication Management Program. The PharmacyMedication Management Program (PMMP) integrates clinical pharmacists with thelocal health plan clinical care team to improve medication utilization andmember outcomes. The PMMP clinical pharmacist is responsible for leading pharmacy-basedinitiatives and supporting the work of clinical care teams serving high riskMedicaid members. The PMMP clinical pharmacist will be responsible forassisting in the development and implementation of Pharmacy MedicationManagement Programs as well as independently administering clinical pharmacyinitiatives.

Fundamental Components:

  • ·Collaborate with plan level associates(includingpharmacy director, care managers, medical directors, provider relations,quality management, and others as necessary) to identify high priority memberand provider populations requiring clinical pharmacy interventions
  • ·Review and evaluate pharmacy and medical claims dataand reporting with plan associates to identify members and prescribers requiringclinical pharmacy interventions
  • ·Assist in the development of PMMP tools, resources,and outreach material as necessary
  • ·Serve as the brand ambassador for the PMMP withinthe plan to drive health plan associate utilization of the available programs
  • ·Educate and train plan level associates on PMMPprocesses and priorities
  • ·Independently complete accurate andcomprehensive medication reviews and perform the corresponding member, caremanager, and provider outreach as necessary
  • ·Serve as the medication expert for health plan clinicalcare activities
  • ·Engage providers to encourage the appropriate prescribingof medications
  • ·Work collaboratively with health plan associatesincluding care managers, medical directors, and quality management to perform memberoutreach that leads to improved medication utilization


  • ·Current unrestricted Kansas state licenserequired.
  • ·3-5 years clinical pharmacy experience required(Retail pharmacy experience is not included in the required number of years ofexperience)
  • ·Managed care experience preferred
  • ·Experience in managing long-term, medicationcare plans is required.
  • ·Understanding HEDIS and other quality programsand processes is preferred.
  • ·Knowledge of clinical program components,formulary designs, and prescription benefit trends.
  • ·Understanding of medical and pharmacy terminology.
  • ·Local travel required
  • ·The highest level of education desired forcandidates in this position is a Doctor of Pharmacy.
