Title    : Kinematics & Functional Lead Engineer

Location : Detroit Area - MI

Full Time Role

(If local, may be F2F, else Phone and Skype is must)

Description:

Experience in Design and Development of Functional Parts (O/S Mirrors, Inner Rear View Mirrors, Moonroof, Window Regulator, Latches, etc.)

The engineer must have relevant experience from on OEM or Tier 1 Supplier for minimum 5-8years.

The responsibilities of this position include:

Investigate and make countermeasures for current production field issues

Make and keep schedule, develop design changes and issue drawing and associated paperwork for engineering changes

Manage suppliers: plan and follow-up their schedule (parts evaluation, design study and design change implementation) and confirm their meeting of the client performance requirements

Investigate cost and mass reduction ideas and make countermeasures to design issues

Report weekly status to management and support regular department reports to DPO/management

Perform other duties as assigned

Manage component development of a vehicle project from concept stage through production then current production; follow by using client development methodologies and processes for vehicle development

Plan structure of upper body parts through target setting, packaging and style feasibility

Execute design in CAD either independently or by leading Supplier Engineers or CAD modelers

Proactively improve design quality and cost for responsible vehicles in production

Weekly reporting to management

Design of component parts using CAD to meet all engineering requirements, create and maintain the component development schedule through SOP, support part evaluation and provide effective countermeasures as required

Benchmark competitor vehicles

Participation in evaluation and manufacturing activities at the eventlocation - both domestic and international

Assess and adjust progress (develop risk management) to maintain project targets ? i.e. schedule, performance, cost, quality

Warranty tracking, countermeasures and root cause analysis

Follow responsible parts from design through validation and launch including problem solving of technical issues

Identify issues/barriers influencing the overall project schedule and make recommendations to recover utilizing risk management

Perform root cause analysis providing effective countermeasures

Participate in cross functional decision-making teams

Visualization of issues, concerns and gaps in current design process. Participate in improvement and reflection activities

Qualification:

Required:

Bachelor?s Degree in an Engineering discipline

Engineeringexperience in a professional setting (internship, full-time, or engineering organization such as FSAE)

Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with suppliers, affiliates

Preferred:

Bachelor?s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering

Automotive engineeringexperience

Engineering design experience

CAD experience, preferably Catia

Project management skills including coordination of supplie
