We currently have an opportunity available for a full-time Software Developer to support one of our U.S. Army contracts at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. The successful applicant will work in direct support of the Army Futures Command providing various forms of software development support. This person must be able to think creatively and challenge conventional thinking over a wide variety of government related projects focusing on better ways to leverage related efforts across multiple programs to meet objectives. This requires someone with strong analytical skills and problem solving abilities that can thrive in a cross-functional setting. Under close direction, you will be performing maintenance on existing software products, assisting in coding, testing, and debugging new software or making enhancements to existing software, writing programs according to specifications from higher level personnel, and suggesting solutions for problems or software enhancements. You may be assisting in the development of user manuals and working with technical staff to learn and understand problems with software. You'll attend ongoing training sessions to achieve a higher level of technical skill.
The selected applicant will work both independently and in a team-oriented environment to provide engineering and analysis support to the customer as it pertains to their suite of software modeling codes and tools. The software models are written in C++11, ANSI C and other computer languages for both the Linux and Windows operating systems. The GUI is written in Java using the Netbeans Framework. The work requires the application of established methods, practices, and techniques and can range from specific to complex efforts for which guidelines and precedents are usually applicable, but interpretation and analysis is often required.
This position requires you to be able to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
Requires Bachelor's degree (in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related field) or equivalent.
