As a Strategic Sourcing Category Manager 2, you will have responsibility to execute transactions between Gap business units and suppliers for acquisition of software licensing and related support and professional services. You will manage all aspects of negotiating contract terms and pricing, as well as gather spend and data analysis, ensure process and policy compliance, evaluate market research, and facilitate ongoing support. Category Managers also play an active role in process and system improvements within Strategic Sourcing, in collaboration with suppliers and business partners.

• May participate in or lead Category Team initiatives, and cross-functional teams such as Tools/Technology, Culture, People and Process, etc
• SaaS, PaaS and IaaS contracts may cross business partner departments and may overlap with other sourcing categories, requiring resourcefulness, collaboration and influencing skills
• This role may require coordination of software initiatives within GapTech as well as within or across multiple brands

• Understand supply and demand and routinely conduct research to stay informed of market conditions
• Define and contribute significantly to the achievement of defined category performance targets
• Lead, advise and influence business partners and sourcing teammates with market surveys, supplier selection, price negotiation, and bid evaluation processes
• Liaise with Legal to negotiate terms of contracts between the supplier and the business
• Develop negotiation strategies and lead the competitive negotiation process including execution of NDAs, SOWs, MSAs, etc.
• Lead competitive RFXs, partnering with Sourcing Execution Center as necessary
• Communicate regularly and proactively with business partners and other stakeholders
• Measure, evaluate, and provide feedback on vendor performance to ensure performance meets expectations, including lead times, contract commitments, etc.
• Actively manage supplier onboarding, relationship building, and offboarding
• Maintain positive relationships with vendors and visit vendor sites, as appropriate
• Lead cyclical and ad-hoc supplier business reviews for key strategic vendors
• Provide input and data analysis on the sourcing process, spend management, and benefits
• Build relationships and effectively partner across varied functions with internal stakeholders, external suppliers, agencies, and colleagues to influence change
• Leverage industry associations, peers and stakeholders to identify and implement category best practices
• Proactively develop or identify and recommend category sourcing strategies
• Lead planning, implementation and execution of category strategies
• Lead the development, evaluation, and presentation of business case and cost/benefit analysis to stakeholders on sourcing process, spend management, and benefits
• Partner with peers and leadership to develop plans for implementation and change management for departmental initiatives
• Understand and follow the Non-Merchandise Procurement Policy, educating stakeholders as needed
• Balance speed and urgency with cost savings in vendor negotiations
• Implement and refine appropriate elements of category strategy
• Maintain constructive working relationships with Legal, Finance, GapTech and brands
• Proactively advance the health of business partner relationships
• Proactively manage relationships with key suppliers
• Lead or provide input and support for continuous improvement programs within the department

• Minimum of 4 years’ professional experience in management consulting, strategic sourcing, or supply chain
• Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, or related discipline; MBA or advanced degree preferred
• Experience in a dynamic organization with experience in sourcing
• Familiarity with various software licensing models (perpetual, subscription, SaaS, etc.) and metrics (users, CPUs, cores, etc.)
• Familiarity with asset management, virtual and cloud computing concepts
• Ability to interpret and utilize data; can tell a story with data
• Excellent planning and prioritization skills with ability to adapt to change quickly
• Ability to interact with senior leaders and demonstrate a professional presence
• Demonstrated ability to effectively handle issues and challenging situations
• Experience planning and leading negotiations a plus
• Ability to learn and quickly develop subject matter expertise
