Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Possesses an understanding of how technology solutions meet the business outcomes and offers a range of solutions for business partners; understand business current and aspirational needs
  • Participates in sprint planning; provides work estimates to deliver product stories; owns development stories
  • Develops solutions on variety of platforms according to business requirements
  • Completes required coding to satisfy the defined acceptance criteria and deliver desired outcome
  • Leads solution design, considering risks, mitigations, performance, user experience, and testability
  • Assists in development of automated testing and supporting code as necessary
  • Completes required documentation to communicate information to deployment, maintenance, and business teams
  • Utilizes agile software development practices, data and testing standards, code reviews, source code management, continuous delivery, and software architecture
  • Participates in the full software development cycle including coding, testing, implementation, support and sunset
  • Designs, develops, tests and supports software in support of big data objectives
  • Possesses an understanding of User Experience practices to improve usability and interaction between the customer and product
  • Adopts Service Design, where appropriate, through architecture modularity to enable continuous delivery
  • Considers applying emerging technology solutions to increase efficiency and effectiveness; expectation of continuous innovation
  • Resolves problems that result in a decreased time to market; improves quality, enhances flexibility, and embraces the solution provider mindset
  • Provides input into overall testing plan; contributes to test approach and scenarios for requirements
  • Provides product and/or process expertise necessary to support design, development, testing and execution of solutions

Additional Details:

Enterprise Interactions Group within State Farm has a vision of making customer interaction seamless across multiple channels and make each interaction meaningful. The project involves some groundbreaking ways to enable this capability and is looking for experienced Agiledevelopers.

The product will be built using latest Java technologies including Cloud and Spring Boot.

Duties and responsibilities of the position:

  • Analyze the systems and business requirements to develop a systems solution
  • Build new and/or modify existing software to meet business and systems requirements
  • Collaborate with other members across the enterprise


Technical Skills (seeking 3-5 years exp):

  • Java development with good Object Oriented foundation
  • Experience and familiarity building modern Spring applications with Spring Boot; strong background with Spring and related projects
  • Experience with Pivotal Cloud Foundry and deploy cloud native applications to PCF
  • Proficient in object oriented development and Java Enterprise concepts
  • Experience with architecting and implementing 12 factor apps using Spring Boot, Spring Cloud including; Spring MVC, Spring Boot, Spring JDBC, Spring Cloud - Experience with designing and implementing highly available, scalable distributed systems . Micro-services design and implementation Development of Java Web Services REST/SOAP/WSDL/XML/SOA
  • Unit testing frameworks using jUnit and Mockito
  • Employs agile development practices and mindset for design, architecture, coding, testing, managing source code, continuous delivery practices and quality reviews
  • Participates in sprint planning; provides work estimates to deliver product stories; owns development stories
  • DevOps, Continuous Delivery process refinement and tool sets such as Jenkins, monitoring tools such as Splunk, etc.
  • Implements software solutions and resolve problems that decrease time to market, enhance flexibility and embrace the solution provider mindset
  • Experience with open source tools and technologies
