The Java developer will work in the ClaimCenter Team. This Team is charged with implementing Guidewire ClaimCenter across multiple business units. ClaimCenter will replace multiple legacy systems. This is a unique opportunity for someone to work on production support but also new development. He/she will be involved in tracing application performance issues back through the infrastructure layers (application server, communication with hosting, web servers, etc.) It's a high visibility providing input into the strategy roadmap.

Title: Java Developer

Responsibilities

Operates independently to:

?        Senior developer with proven experience building enterprise systems and collaborating with multiple teams

?        Designs, develops, tests, debugs, maintains and documents software systems, components, and utilities

?        Provides technical support for ClaimCenter including working withInfrastructure teams for server support/upgrade and troubleshooting related to ClaimCenter environments

?        Performs review of ClaimCenter architecture with other teams for upgrade, server maintenance and disaster recovery

?        Performs complex maintenance and problem resolution on software application

?        Collaborates with other departments on requirements, design, standards, and architecture of applications

?        Adheres to standards for software development with emphasis on test driven development and quality of software

?        Production Support: Participates in release planning and deployments

?        Assist in problem resolution, during daily and monthly production cycles

?        Assist customers and team members in issue resolution and problem solving

?        Develops time estimates for project deliverables

?        Coaching / mentoring of development staff in development best practices

?        Participate in code reviews and status meetings

?        Promotes AgileScrum development methodology

?        Develop unit test cases for testing changes

?        Support testing activities and resolve issues identified

?        Work within a development team using Agile methodology to deliver software

?        Work across the organization to provide business process or design recommendations consistent with long-term business and IT strategy

Qualifications

?        Must be eligible for direct-hire roles. Sorry, no C2C. 

?        Must live in Cincinnati, or be willing to relocate here for a permanent role. 

?         Integration Development experience in Guidewire products like ClaimCenter, PolicyCenter or BillingCenter is a "nice to have."

?        5+ years?experience with software development of Java applications

?        5+ years?experience with J2EE framework

?        5+ years knowledge of application and web server design like Apache Tomcat

?        5+ years?experience with RDMS such as Oracle or SQL Server and integration of the database with Java applications

?        5+ years complex SQL writing experience. Unix Shell scripting is a must,

?        5+ years?experience with Java IDE such as Eclipse

?        Experience with Open Source Frameworks: Spring, Hibernate

?        Experience with Continuous Integration and Build Mgmt.: e.g. Hudson/Jenkins, Maven, Ant

?        Monitoring tools experience - Dynatrace, Nagios, SCOM, New Relic

?        General knowledge of middleware and service oriented architecture, red hat enterprise Linux scripting basics, UC4/Automic or other enterprise scheduling application

?        Plus: AgileScrum development methodology experience

?        Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills

?        Ability to work effectively with associates at all levels within the organization

?        Demonstrated ability to establish priorities, organize and plan work to satisfy established timeframes

?        Proven ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously

?        Analytical skills, problem solving and attention to detail
