Job Description

TransCore (TCI), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is seeking a full-time Sr. Systems ITS Engineer to join our Intelligent Transportation Systems team in Manhattan, New York.

Job Summary: The successful candidate will participate in and lead ITS-related design and engineering projects working with agencies in the NY/NJ metropolitan area and across the United States. Typical projects will include the analysis and design of ITS solutions as well as projects that apply industry technologies and our own TransSuite® family of ITS products to deliver customized traffic management solutions that exceed our customers' expectations.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

  • Experience in the analysis and design of Intelligent Transportation Systems including: traffic monitoring systems, surveillance systems and supporting infrastructure.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including the proficient use of MS Office tools.
  • Experience managing ITS projects including serving as customer interface, scheduling, and managing financial performance.
  • 8 years of experience
  • New York State Professional Engineer (PE) License is required.
  • Prior experience in the Transportation Sector, specifically involving state/municipal departments of transportation in the New York Metropolitan area (New York City, MTA, PANYNJ, New York State) is desirable.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certifications are desirable.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Performing engineering analysis related to the implementation, design, and operation of ITS programs.
  • Preparing design plans, specifications and estimates for projects including CCTV cameras, traffic detectors, dynamic message signs, other devices and associated power and communications infrastructure.
  • Project management including scheduling, progress reporting and invoicing and managing project budgets.
  • Customer relationship management including meeting with customers and keeping customers and TransCore team appraised of project status.
  • Coordination with other firms and agencies
  • Managing work of other engineers and CADD personnel.


Required Skills, Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum of 6 years experience with Intelligent Transportation Systems


Required Education:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related field


Desired Qualifications:

  • NY PE strongly desired


Salary Range: $130,000 - 150,000 annually, based on qualifications and experience.
