  • Designs, develops, implements, maintains and enhances telecommunication networks, systems and equipment.
  • Analyzes existing networks and equipment and identifies opportunities for improvement.
  • Develops solutions that meet business requirements.
  • Responsible for engineering and/or analytical tasks and activities within the telecommunications function (e.g., network design, engineering, implementation, diagnostics or operations/user support).
  • Monitors the operation of telecom network systems.
  • Performs tasks relating to telecom network operations, installation, and/or maintenance for local, off-site and/or remote locations.
  • Responsible for the configuration, deployment, testing, maintenance, monitoring and troubleshooting of telecommunications network components.
  • Handles quality assurance and testing of transmission mediums and infrastructure components.
  • May serve as technical specialist on a functional basis, for the resolution of complex network problems.
  • May assist with managing engineering standards for operational systems design, support and delivery of both traditional and VoIP environments, monitors system performance and reliability for voice and video components.
  • May benchmark, analyze, reports on and makes recommendations for telecommunications systems, and systems management software.
  • Assists with design and implementation of operationally-supportable, architecture for improvement and growth of telecommunications infrastructure and applications.
  • May develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses.
  • May assess new technologies, products and approaches.
  • Perform duties on a rotating 24 / 7 / 365 on-callschedule as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.



  • Requires Technical certification, Associates degree or Bachelor's degree, preferably in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field and some experience with telecommunications systems, including moves, adds and changes, fault isolation and resolution, end-user support or other directly related experience.
  • A combination of education and experience may meet requirements.
  • Basic knowledge of telecom systems, dial plans, switching architecture, telephony and wiring, moves, adds and changes, fault isolation and resolution and end-user support.
  • Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field or technology.
  • Good understanding of system flow charts, data processing concepts, and telecommunications principles.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written required.
  • Ability to set goals and maintain quality work standards.
  • Ability to identify, analyze and resolve issues.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and schedules.
  • Ability to understand the organization's goals and objectives.
