Designs, develops, implements, maintains and enhances telecommunication networks, systems and equipment.
Analyzes existing networks and equipment and identifies opportunities for improvement.
Develops solutions that meet business requirements.
Responsible for engineering and/or analytical tasks and activities within the telecommunications function (e.g., network design, engineering, implementation, diagnostics or operations/user support).
Monitors the operation of telecom network systems.
Performs tasks relating to telecom network operations, installation, and/or maintenance for local, off-site and/or remote locations.
Responsible for the configuration, deployment, testing, maintenance, monitoring and troubleshooting of telecommunications network components.
Handles quality assurance and testing of transmission mediums and infrastructure components.
May serve as technical specialist on a functional basis, for the resolution of complex network problems.
May assist with managing engineering standards for operational systems design, support and delivery of both traditional and VoIP environments, monitors system performance and reliability for voice and video components.
May benchmark, analyze, reports on and makes recommendations for telecommunications systems, and systems management software.
Assists with design and implementation of operationally-supportable, architecture for improvement and growth of telecommunications infrastructure and applications.
May develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses.
May assess new technologies, products and approaches.
Perform duties on a rotating 24 / 7 / 365 on-callschedule as required.
Other duties as assigned.
Requires Technical certification, Associates degree or Bachelor's degree, preferably in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field and some experience with telecommunications systems, including moves, adds and changes, fault isolation and resolution, end-user support or other directly related experience.
A combination of education and experience may meet requirements.
Basic knowledge of telecom systems, dial plans, switching architecture, telephony and wiring, moves, adds and changes, fault isolation and resolution and end-user support.
Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field or technology.
Good understanding of system flow charts, data processing concepts, and telecommunications principles.
Good interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written required.
Ability to set goals and maintain quality work standards.
Ability to identify, analyze and resolve issues.
