Job DescriptionWe have an opening for an
IT Systems Specialist to help provide operational support for various IT services, including CrowdStrike, Code42, and Incydr. You will assist in the development, testing, installation, and support of these services. You will work closely with the IT service manager to learn operations and deep technical knowledge of the platforms. You will be part of the Information Technology Solutions Division (ITSD) within the Computing Directorate and working as part of the LivIT Workforce Enablement Team that supports the LivIT program.
This position offers a hybrid schedule, blending in-person and virtual presence. You will have the flexibility to work from home one or more days per week.
This position will be filled at either level based on knowledge and related experience as assessed by the hiring team. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if hired at the higher level.
You will- Perform monitoring, configuration, and troubleshooting tasks within the CrowdStrike platform.
- Support operations of the Code42 Enterprise Backup solution and assist the Cyber Security Program with data loss prevention (DLP) using Code42 Incydr.
- Provide operational support for hardware-encrypted USB drives using the Datalocker SafeConsole management solution.
- Collaborate with the current IT Service Manager to gain foundational knowledge of systems and services.
- Participate cross functionally with key stake holders to ensure compliance of ongoing security requirements.
- Participate in training sessions and hands-on learning to develop proficiency in IT service operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional job responsibilities, at the 393.2 level - Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex problems related to configuration management.
- Serve as a technical leader, internal and external consultant, providing highly advanced technical assistance to the user community and collaborating with customers.
- Lead projects, drive problem resolution, work with vendors, and manage cases if required.
- Independently manage CrowdStrike, Code42, Incydr, and SafeLocker systems, addressing complex issues and optimizing processes.
- Assist in the migration planning and implementation for transitioning from Code42 to a new backup solution.
Qualifications- Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field, or equivalent technical training and extensive experience.
- Broad and in-depth knowledge and experience in various OS platforms. (e.g. Windows, Mac, or Linux)
- Ability to effectively manage concurrent technical tasks with competing priorities and independently resolve problems and provide solutions.
- Strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot technical issues.
- Ability to learn new technologies through self-study, training sessions, and hands-on experience.
- Experience and knowledge of cyber security protocols to manage user accounts, control and monitor access.
- Experience and knowledge of the skills needed for a customer support role to include a focus on listening, rapport-building, good communication skills, friendly and approachable nature, courtesy and patience, and negotiating and influencing skills.
- Proven ability to learn new IT technologies and apply these skills to a production IT environment.
Additional qualifications at the 393.2 level - Highly advanced knowledge of and substantial experience with one or more operating systems.
- Substantial experience serving as a technical lead on projects, achieving positive results, and driving projects to closure on time and on budget.
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills necessary to collaborate in a team environment and document, present, and explain technical information to all employees.
Qualifications We Desire- Proficiency using PowerShell to automate tasks.
- Experience with SQL Server administration and queries.
- Splunk and/or API experience for data acquisition and reporting.

Security ClearanceThis position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance.
