How this role will make an impact:
The Manager of IT Strategy and Planning position is a part of PetSmart’s IT Strategy Team, which is responsible for building a holistic view of our organization’s strategy, processes, information and IT roadmaps to enable continued growth in our mission to create more moments where people can be inspired by pets. PetSmart’s current business strategy is driving rapid changes in many components of its IT environment including digital, mobile, enterprise systems, enterprise services and integration, and analytics. This role will be responsible for facilitating and providing thought leadership to enable the overall portfolio planning of IT investments. The role is responsible for defining, implementing and continuously improving policies, processes and procedures that deliver consistent and reliable products and services to our colleagues and customers
This is not a Project Management role. The next 1 to 2 year goals for this role, as an individual contributor, include; building strategic IT themes based on business strategy, collaborating with the EA team to co-relate strategic IT themes to technology strategies, collaborating with technology and business relation directors to aide in IT Roadmap development, lead efforts to develop a holistic view of IT roadmap, form and lead Strategy council to ensure business and IT Strategic alignment, working with senior IT leadership to facilitate IT budget and planning sessions, acting as a liaison between IT and corporate EPMO in support of budget and long range planning activities and, support IT leadership team with developing and maintaining a holistic view of IT-as-a-services-organization to the business.
Longer term goals for this role include; maturing and expanding the capabilities of this function to include IT vendor and contract oversight, creating and maintaining a holistic view of IT Financial management, creating and maintaining a holistic view of IT value delivery, creating and maintaining a holistic view of a long-range IT Strategy and roadmap and, collaborating closely with the corporate strategy function. We foresee this role to transition to a team leadership role to support these expanded capabilities.
