The role. Key Responsibilities - Develop and enhance tools to automatically generate 3D CAD models and 2D/3D manufacturing drawings for individual components and full product assemblies
- Work with Engineering team to develop and document technical rules for adding new products to CAD automation systems
- Work with Engineering team to convert existing legacy product designs into suitable format for implementation into CAD automation systems
- Develop user interfaces to make selections and set variables for generating designs
- Develop communication protocols and tools to extract data from existing systems (APIs and databases) for automatic generation of designs
- Configure complex dimensioning and labelling rules for technical 2D/3D designs which will be configured based on the product and customer specifications
Required Knowledge/Skills, Education and Experience: - Electrical and or mechanical engineering knowledge
- Understanding design of mechanical components (ex: bearings, shafts, housings, etc)
- Understanding of drafting rules including dimensioning and GD&T
- CAD experience with Siemens NX or similar (SolidWorks, Solid Edge, etc)
- Programming experience (MATLAB, VB.NET, C#, or similar)
- 3-5 years professional experience in this area
- Project management experience
- Experience with documenting technical processes
- Electrical or mechanical engineering knowledge
- Understanding design of mechanical components (ex: bearings, shafts, housings, etc)
- Understanding of industry standard drafting rules for dimensioning and GD&T
- Understanding of complex CAD modeling and assembly techniques including using expressions to drive features
- Siemens NX experience
- SQL experience
