Summary

Directs quality assurance practices for the information technology department

Essential Job Functions

  • Manages the performance of the Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance program and related activities on a continuing basis, taking appropriate steps to improve its effectiveness
  • Provides reports on a regular basis, and as directed or requested, on the operation and progress of PCI compliance efforts
  • Collaborates with other university departments as needed to manage the successful delivery of high profile, complex IT projects
  • Develops and implements quality assurance programs and processes to provide on-time IT deliverables which meet requirements and appropriate technical standards which are then translated into test scenarios
  • Researches trends in new processes and technologies related to quality assurance and makes recommendations to improve new processes, software and systems, when appropriate
  • Maintains records of quality assurance findings and refers to appropriate development resource for corrective action
  • Reviews operational and project related implementations to assist and influence designs to follow principles of the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Oversees problem management by partnering with IT staff to perform root cause analysis to work through issues and defects and support resolutions
  • Serves as core member of the architecture review board to facilitate the creation of reference architectures, policies and standards
  • Facilitates continuous improvement initiatives
  • Collaborates with IT teams to manage the development, implementation, and administration of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) as well as monitors compliance with SOP’s
  • Serves as back up for the information security, risk management and compliance practices for information technology throughout the university environment
  • Assists with departmental budget
  • Supervises and manages student employees, as necessary, to enhance their academic and professional development
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree or a combination of education/certification(s) and/or experience suitable for the position
  • Moderate amount of experience working in IT applications, systems, networking or in other related work

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or greater in computer science, engineering or a related field of study
